This is some later issue but do you know what is the sentence of attempt to murder in USA ?
Also that do they count the time passed in prison already.
Now this is a matter of humanity.
Re: Aafia Siddiqui case -- the proceedings
1 Question, if anyone knows it...
Are there any other charges on A.S. as well? Will there bey any other trial ?

No, the only charges against were were the attempted murder charges. The US government has never demonstrated any intention to try her on other grounds.

Must read this news with this thread. Remember his brother Ch Shujaat was perhaps PM in 2003-4 when this lady was sold to US.

GEO Pakistan**
US verdict lays bare real US face**
Updated at: 0205 PST, Thursday, February 04, 2010
KARACHI: Asmat Siddiqui, mother of Dr Aafia Siddiqui said the US court verdict against her daughter has exposed the real face of the USA and US downfall has now surely set in, Geo News reported late Wednesday night.
Talking to media late night, the mother of innocent Dr Aafia urged the people of the country not go on rampage in protest against the verdict, adding she is glad that her daughter is guiltless and innocent and the verdict is a gravely insulting slap on the face of the US.
She also thanked for the role played by the media. She said she is deeply grateful to Allah who has given her a daughter like Aafia.
She said had Aafia been guilty, she would have herself punished her daughter, adding she would not beseech for mercy.
On this occasion, Asmat expressed dissatisfaction on the overall performance of Pakistan government in this connection.
Dr Fauzia Siddiqui—sister of Aafia— said the US court ruling has uncovered the face of the US, adding, ‘We are pleased with the will of Allah; however, the verdict has helped to kick-started the fall of the US.’
Fauzia said everyone is sad on the verdict; however, as Muslims, we will show courage and face the circumstances, adding the judges changed their verdict and the ruling proved that there is no justice found in the US.
She said the delay in the verdict cleared her that they would not be given justice.
Shame on Pakistani Army/Agencies and the dictator yet again
BBC News - Questions about convicted Pakistani doctor Siddiqui
Mr Farooqi said that his niece also spoke about what happened after she went missing - he was told that she had been “held in various places at various times”.
“She had not seen her children for years - sometimes her captors said they were dead and sometimes that they had been sent abroad,” he said.
"She was quite clear that she was being held by Pakistani agencies. She spoke well of the Americans, but was clearly afraid of the Pakistanis.
“Before she came to see me, she said that she was being held in Lahore by a security agency.”

Former corps commander, 2 ISI officials booked
** Case registered in line with orders of Supreme Court over
disappearance of Quetta resident Ali Asghar Bangalzai
By Malik Siraj Akbar *
QUETTA: Police in the provincial capital registered a case on Wednesday against former corps commander Gen (r) Abdul Qadir Baloch and two senior ISI officials, in line with orders of a Supreme Court bench hearing a case related to the disappearance of a resident of the city, Ali Asghar Bangalzai.
The family of Bangalzai, a tailor master, registered the first information report (FIR) with the Sariab Police Station against the former corps commander, former ISI Quetta chief Brig Siddique and another senior ISI official identified only as Col Bangash.
Bangalzai’s son, Ghulam Farooq, told Daily Times that his 38-year-old father, along with a friend identified as Muhammad Iqbal, was “arrested” by intelligence agencies on June 1, 2000. He said while the two were released within 22 days, his father was “taken away again on October 18, 2001”. The family have repeatedly sought the help of higher courts and human rights groups, but there has been no information on Bangalzai’s whereabouts since.
Farooq and his siblings went on the “longest hunger strike ever staged by children in the history of Pakistan” in 2006 for the release of their father.
“No police station has been willing to register a case against the intelligence agencies we hold responsible for the disappearance of our father,” said Farooq. “We are delighted to have finally managed to register a case against the responsible officials by virtue of the independent judiciary’s interest in the case.” He said the three former army officials had been named in the FIR because they “admitted before the family that Bangalzai was in their custody”. He said while the officials assured the family that Bangalzai would be released, they did not keep their word.
“We met the head of the intelligence agency in the presence of MMA leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmed. The official confirmed that Ali was in their custody but would be released soon,” Nasrullah – Bangalzai’s nephew and the chairman of an organisation called Voice for Missing Persons – told Daily Times. He said the official later “backtracked from his promise and denied that Ali was in their custody”.
Nasrullah said Bangalzai’s family was very thankful to the country’s “independent judiciary” for taking notice of the case of a man who has been missing for the last eight years.
“We are hopeful that action would be taken against those responsible for the disappearance of my uncle,” he said. “It is for the first time in eight years that a case has been registered over the disappearance of my uncle,” he said.
Gen Abdul Qadir Baloch – who has been nominated in the case – is a former governor of Balochistan and a member of the current National Assembly. He recently joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
The SC bench, headed by Justice Javed Iqbal, ordered the registration of a case against the intelligence officials while hearing the missing citizens’ case – a hearing of which is scheduled for today (Thursday).
Now no one can sale any Afia to any country.

**QUETTA: The provincial government has directed all police stations to register FIRs on the basis of complaints lodged by family members of the missing people. **
The directive was issued following a recent order of the apex court on the issue, Balochistan Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani said.
Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani held a meeting with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Interior Minister Rehman Malik in Islamabad on Saturday and raised the issue of missing people and implementation of the Aaghaz-i-Huqooq-i-Balochistan programme.
The prime minister and the interior minister assured the chief minister that all possible efforts would be made to trace the missing people.
The home secretary said that the Home and Tribal Affairs Department had issued a list of 992 missing people. “We have received documents of 65 missing people and eight of them have reached their homes,” he said, adding that efforts were under way for the recovery of the remaining people.
Re: Aafia Siddiqui case -- the proceedings
Shame what things have come to, she should be released. No way could a woman like her even pose a threat, i am suprised indeed by this case.
There are much more dangerous people in my own street, seriously one should look at the actuall crime commited not the supposed threat.
It is why for example an man aged 25 caught walking around wearing a sword, is not as bad as an unarmed 40something who has just raped several women and girls.
By some laws the young man would be locked up instantly even though no crime was actually commited, apart from him carrying arms, for which he may have good reason or even a defense! While forces focuss on him the 40year old rapist gets scoot free and it take years to catch him.
Now i know the scenario from first hand experience, at the end of the day the law is sometimes implemented with ridiculous cases, and why is it that the powers that be always go for the easy targets rather than tackle the actual bad guys?
America has wasted it's time with this women, it cannot even prove with a certainty her guilt. At the end of the day America has more serious lunatics roaming its streets.
Allah open peoples eyes and hearts.
May Allah free all those held wrongly, it is not a nice thing to have to go through.

**ISLAMABAD: The government assured the National Assembly on Thursday it would put up a “good defence” for Pakistani neuroscientist Aafia Siddiqui even at the next stage of her trial by a US court where a jury last week found her guilty of attempting to murder American soldiers in Afghanistan.
**
“Justice is not being done (to her),” Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Malik Amad Ahmed Khan said at the end of a one-sided debate in apparently Islamabad’s strongest comment to date in what he called “a common cause” against the Feb 3 conviction in New York.
He complained of that a Pakistani woman had been “maltreated” and said: “We all agree that somehow she should be brought back (to Pakistan).”
But despite the near unanimity of stance in the house, neither the opposition nor the treasury benches moved any resolution on the issue although PPP chief whip and Labour and Manpower Minister Khurshid Ahmed Shah had said on Wednesday, in response to a demand from opposition leader Nisar Ali Khan, that the government would be prepared to pass a joint resolution.
Malik Amad referred to the next and final court session in May for sentencing, before an appeal can be made to a higher court, and said: “We will put up a strong defence. We will go all the way.”
The minister of state rejected opposition charges that the government had not done enough to secure Dr Aafia’s return to Pakistan and said President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and he himself had been raising the matter with US authorities while the government also allocated $2 million for her legal defence.
Such interactions, he said, also won her concessions such as meetings with a Senate delegation and family members, return of her 12-year-old son and improvement in prison conditions.
All of more than 10 members from both the opposition and the ruling coalition, who spoke on the second day of the debate condemned Dr Aafia’s conviction, though some called for a serious approach rather than rhetoric to fight her case even outside the court like pleading with the US Congress and administration.

Sadly,
We are supporting the most weird and terrorist people on this earth as our bros, and sis's.
Those who don't know that afia was traveling between Afghanistan and Pakistan on regular basis during her "disappearances". Her own uncle in Islamabad has confessed to this.
No body sold her. She slipped into Afghanistan along with her children to do Jihad.
If you don't believe this, ask afia's mother or Jiahdi sis, one question.
Where are the rest of her children. Just tell us.
And until she does, quit this drama bazi that brings bad name to our beautiful country that gets perceived as supporter of terror.
