LAHORE: The people of Lahore experienced the thrill of Formula One by watching a high-tech and high-speed A1 Grand Prix racing car here on Monday. Pakistan will compete in A1 Grand Prix in England in September 2005.
The car, driven by American-based Pakistani Noor Ali, touched an unusual speed of 250 kilometres per hour and took seven rounds from Gulberg Main Boulevard to Liberty Market. The entire route of the race and its adjoining roads were totally blocked for all types of traffic and the concerned authorities deployed around 2000 policemen to ensure smooth conduct of the spectacular show. The cool and confident rider completed the seven rounds in three sessions.
The car has been presented to Pakistan by founder of the AI Grand Prix, Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum. “It is a great memorable experience to drive on a road of Lahore and I am really honoured,” said Noor Ali after the demonstration. “This car is the car of people of Pakistan and it will be an honour for Pakistan when it will be running in the A1 Grand Prize first race in September in England,” he added.

It is good to see that Pakistan is into motor racing. I have been lucky to witness F1 racing here in melbourne where i live. It is extremely important for pakistan to get into motor racing as there is a lot of money and lot of course with this we will get a lot of technical information about cars. this might lead to development of some sort of motor racing industry in pakistan.
