A woman lives....

Re: A woman lives....

Feminism/feminazis have affected the system so drastically that they have pushed unwilling women into a rat race that refuses to benefit anyone.

That's capitalism.

And I agree with P-diddy here. Yes, Islam gave us that choice. But go to the religion forum and open a thread on women having careers and ask if its Islamically permissable. Or look up the many that have been made here in the past. That will give you an idea of how seriously irreligious MANY still think it is for a woman to work - how she's shirking her household duties, and duties to her husband. As if a woman should go into a career like law? As if she should go into a career that does not involve cooking or cleaning and involves long-term education? Ask if its okay for a woman to fly planes?

They'll tend to give you the standard answer...

"A woman's duty is her marriage, her husband, her children her home, etc and working women tend not to manage those Islamic duties very well, so women should not be taking up such jobs". - i.e. Working is unIslamic. For women to do anything other than cook and clean is unIslamic.

And the facts show - look at the muslim countries around you and Islamic history. How many women worked? How many were educated?

In Pakistan, its discouraged even now for women to get educated. Career tho duur ki baath hai. At least friggin get educated so you don't raise a herd of sheep! But if you talk to maulvis over there, they dont accept that its permissable Islamically.

Yes, ground reality is VERY DIFFERENT from Islamic theory.

If anything, I've always thought the Prophet Muhammed was one of the biggest feminists of his era. But in All Honesty, in all seriousness, when push comes to shove, who really listens to him?
