Meri aammi ji, she always prays in the morning, (mashallah), like darood sharif, Quraan and a few duas… and then she most of the time have a glass of pani, jis par wo phuktay hai… or hum sab ko wo paani milta hai… so today… she prayed alot… or aaj wo glass ghalati say ghir geya… umm the glass was alright.. but all the paani, which mom prayed on… sab zaiya ho geya tha…
so what came to my mind was… **IS THAT A BAD SIGN? :-/ ** …
First of all its not a bad sign at all, rather its not even a sign. In Islam there is no concept of bad omen or bad sign. The bad omen concept is a well-known part of Jahiliyah or Ignorance that was prevalent in the time before Islam. In some cultures such as ours this concept still exists and the reasons for that are well known.
Being Muslims we should have complete believe in Allah and Allah alone, since all the good and the bad comes to us by his will and his will alone and we should avoid all things that would lead us towards superstitious acts and ultimately to Shirk.
What you just wrote is very common practice in Pakistan, where moms do a lot of other things to protect their kids than just praying and “phook marna on water”. What we have to remember is that we should pray to Allah for the protection our dearest, and the best way to do this is by establishing regular Salat at our houses.
May Allah guide us all and give us the courage to establish Salat. Ameen
phook maaring on water actually happens a lot in sub continent culture...anyways as minime said in islam there is nothing as good or bad omen..these things are cultural borrowed from india because in hindu culture theere is good and bad omens
a baaaaaaaaaad omen.. it must have made the goddess of glass and crystal very angry. she is the one residing somewhere between the constellations of sagitarius and capricorn.
the best way to prevent her to take revenge on you guys would be to ask the god of stones and pebbles to help you. This can be done by throwing stones at neighbour's wondows and car's windscreens etc.
Don’t listen to these jokers. Your day will get better just on that count.
Just think of it as a sign that God didn’t want you to have that water that one day because the ground needed it. It’s only for a few hours and tomorrow when you have it you will and and your aammi will feel like freshlu laundered million bucks! cheer up.
to all others:
everybody has superstitions - it’s not entirely due to any religion.
one man’s superstition is another’s belief.
or do you think you’re sending ionic vibrations to Saudi Arabia when you pray easterly?
Don't be superstitious Sherni. There's nothing bad in that. You know how some people believe ke kisi ko acchay kaam se pehlay rok liya jaye to woh bura hota hai...aisi koi baat nahi hoti. Everything in this world happens according to Allah's will and marzi. There is no such thing as superstition. Relax. :-)
