it isnt I don’t think normal ppl would spend tht much, unless ur really rich… or maybe im just super poor lol
But either way i think it’s too much money to spend on a wedding… Yeh hav a gud venue and hav great looking outfits and jewellery, but spending too much on unnecessary thingz for public approval is going a bit over the top… rest is down to an individual, what they choose to do is totally up to them.. : p

Re: A Wedding which cost over a million dollars !! :o
I watched it all, it was very beautiful. Yet it made me a bit sick when hearing what they spent. If they had done away with ONLY the flowers and trees over their wedding platform, they could have built an ENTIRE SCHOOL in northern pakistan thru the Pennies for Peace organization. I get it, I do...to want a fairy tale wedding with all the trimmings but this could have been just as beautiful without so much spending. It was kinda sickening, not in anything that you saw cause it was so pretty but in what they SPENT.

Well maybe they DO donate a lot to charity but we don't know about it? I don't think it's any of our business to say where a couple should have spent their money or how. For every person their wedding is beyond special and while some may choose to keep it simple, others might want something out of the world.. and rightly so because it's their big day and something they will not have ever again. And if you have the money/budget to, then why not? I think that if they can have a million dollars to spend on their big day then obviously they have much more and who knows, they might be helping charities or something on the side. Million dollar wedding or $10,000 wedding - it will always be either too much for some people or too less for the others.
Tacky or not, everyone's taste is different and you can see how happy this couple was.. and that's what matters.
from what i know, most "walas" are memons....
they usually adopted the names based on their family business.
sodawaterwala
icecreamwala
motiwala
sonawala
etc.
Actually majority of the 'walas' are bohris or gujratis. There's a few number of memons with wala in their names, comparitively.

janab-e-ali:
it is so incredibly ignorant to say that wealthy hindus have no class and that having class when ur wealthy is a cultural thing. its an individual thing, and it depends on the individual's zehniyat. please dont be ignorant and say that its because they belong to a certain culture or religion. pakistanis and indians are more alike than different. I know many many many wealthy hindus that are extremely classy when it comes to demonstrating their wealth. it really hurts when ppl on this forum make ignorant and rude comments towards indians.
Re: A Wedding which cost over a million dollars !! :o
I think what some rich people consider as 'classy' might not be something that fits other peoples' description, and vice versa. Everyone does things according to their taste, style, etc and if you're not agreeing with their take on certain things then they probably feel the same way about yours.

Advertising how much you spent on every little thing involved with your wedding (or anything else for that matter) is tacky and unsophisticated, no matter how you slice it.
As for the gaudiness of the wedding itself, I suppose that's a matter of personal taste and cultural tendencies.
Re: A Wedding which cost over a million dollars !! :o
Food looks delish and decoration was beautiful. Rest, I agree with dush, advertising how much you have spent is quite unsophisticated...but if that makes them happy, I guess good for them...lol
