A vote for Bush is a vote for Rumsfeld

I think it’s important to remember that. You need to judge not only what Bush has and has not done int he last 4 years but the type of people he has surrounds himself with. Rumsfeld was the architect of the Iraq war and has been proven to be a failure. Rather than firing Rumsfeld after the Abu Ghraib scandal Bush went and backed him. Rumsfeld (as well as Bush) would get in front of the camera day after day and lie to the American public on how freedom in Iraq was flowing. How can one vote for a President who supports and puts into powerful positions failures like Donald Rumsfeld? A vote for Bush is a vote for Rumsfeld.

Rumsfeld is replaceable, and I suspect, will be replaced in the second term.

Bush would appoint right-wing Christian ideologues that would eviscerate civil rights, workers' rights, civil liberties, gay rights, free speech and environmental protection. Their agendas are anti-choice and pro-corporate. We would become entrenched with right wing ideology in our government where constitutional decrees regarding presidential war powers would become very scary. The power of the police and prosecutors could tip the balance to a police state. Church/state relations would be blurred and racial, ethnic and gender discrimination would go unchecked.

You can call it 'selling fear', I call it a very real possibility. Scalia and Thomas were approved and Bush said they are his model. 3 more appointments like that and we will have a right wing extremist majority. I find that possibility frightening.
