A visit to Canberra

Recently, I decided to drive to Canberra over a week-end.

It took us about 3.5 hours from Sydney, and despite what people had told me, it dull etc, it turned out quite an interesting visit.

The best I liked was the War Memorial. Did you guys know that more than 100,000 Indian soldiers died in the first world war?!! The whole area was fabulous - I could have spent the whole days there.

The Parliament house is built in a hill, in a hill !. They dug out a whole hill, built the parliament building and then again covered it up with mud, such that grass is growing on the top of the building!!

The city has a large Student population due to the Canberra University, but overall it is quite sparcely populated.

The lake, fountain and layout of the city is beautiful. The freeways / motorways were really good.

Re: A visit to Canberra

Yaar it's such a dull city, you are right about the parliament building (it's beautiful), that is probably one of the only few things worth visting ( apart from war memorial and pakistan embassy :P ) otherwise the city itself is simply DEAD!!!!!!!

Re: A visit to Canberra

the war memorial is definitely worth a visit. It was the only place that I was impressed with when I went to canberra.

Apart from Canberra University there is also Australian National University which is one of the best Universities in Australia
