I have seen couple of fiancee/husband visa questions going on here so i have a relevant question as well that is somehow different.
I got Nikahfied over the winter break.. and then had to come back to the U.S for my last semester.. now my husband is planning to come over for my graduation that is in May and he has got an interview on May 11th.. but some ppl are telling us that its not a good idea to go for an interview since they might decline him the Visa that would affect his status when I will sponsor him to come over.. at the moment, I dun have a citizenship and also I am not even sponsoring him.. he is planing to come for a week or two just for the graduation.. so does it make sense to go and give it a shot or wait until I go back to Pakistan or when my parents plan to sponsor us.
What is your status, bibi? Green card holder? Why would your parents be sponsoring you then? How can they sponsor your husband-to-be? Too many dots that don't connect. Can't give you mashwara.
Why would your hubnad tell the immigration officer once in the states that he has an interview? is he one of them Gandhi types, who does the right thing regardless of the detriment to his being.
PD, kuch ziyaada hee charhaa lee hay? She said, he 'might' get rejected for visa interview in Pak and it will dampen his chances of getting a sponsored visa in the near future.
Abay, I am no fob..when I hear interviews, I am assuming it is for a job. what you people do to get here is remarkable..getting married to someone you have never known, riding shotgun with mexicans drunk from tequila and putting up with canadians (which might be the worst of it). They should make a made-for-tv movie on your lives.
alritey ppl hold your horses: I didn't know what kind of information is useful and what not so lack of information is because of my lack of knoweldge about all these things!
Funguy: I am green card holder and am studying here as an Intl student because of my status when I came here so I can';t sponsor him anwayz.. I am under 21 and I will get my citizenship once my mom sponsors me and then I can go for him..since its a long process we are planning to live in Pakistan for a while but then I have to finish my dental school so for that I have to get back here evnetually.. but for now he wants to come over for my graduation but keeping in mind that the rejection might not affect the process after..does it make any sense to you or not??
Pinstripe Danda: why do you sound like Matsui.. oh anywayz, i guesss funguy answered your concern pretty well!
I would really appreciate if you like to take your words back and please DONOT enter my thread if you dunno anything about the question being asked here!
Also, STOP ASSUMING stuff about us and our lives… live and let live. Thanx
awww Sajal baji... thats the whole problem... I got enrolled in a uni as an international student and thats why my mom is responsible to sponsor me SOMEHOW.. Also, I will apply for citizenship but first I do want him to come over for graduation since ciztizenship and eveyrthing is going to take forever anywayz!
Sorry gemini, wasn't malicious..just playing with Fungi more than anything directed at you. You should speak to an immigration lawyer rather than post it on gupshup.
I don't think a B-1 visa rejection (if it happens) would cause significant problems when a greencard sponsorship comes years later, but unfortunately I don't know enough to give a better advise.
Coming to the B-1 visa application by your husband, you have to remember that the basis of US visa policy is that anyone who can not prove that they will return from US after the visit, they are considered as potential immigrants, and no visit visa can be issued to them. I am not sure what your husband can show them to convince the visa interviewing officer that he has enough ties back in Pakistan to come back.. things like property, a good job, family (if he is the elder son, thats always a plus), enough resources to pay for the trip etc. I do suspect that if the US visa interviewing officer realizes that he is married and his wife is already a GC holder living in the US, that will be very strong grounds to reject the B-1 visa application. What may make sense is for his entire family to apply for the visa and make it like a family vacation to US, rather than a single guy applying.
Thanx alot Faisal Bhai.. it really makes sense to me unlike some otehr ppl who kept telling us that it will create problems after w/o giving any solid advice about how and why!
He is the youngest son and doing Masters in Chemical Engineering so he is not going to stay here at all because at this moment both of us are studying and dont plan to live together but I dun think if Immigration officer can actually understand this.
oh well, seems like he is not coming for my graduation..but I am going back!
lol.. ^ wow i gotta new goal in life. look for the movie in 10 years..
i love illegal fob stories.. .. my other goal in life is to kick them all out n get them gov jobs in pakiland (so they have to pay taxes!)
sorry its off topic.
