Re: A Very Eloquent Pakistani Speaker

They've done a number of such interviews. They speak in fairly good english and its APALLING how politicians they interview speak english.

Re: A Very Eloquent Pakistani Speaker

I thought thats all she was there for until she said something ....

Re: A Very Eloquent Pakistani Speaker

Not to pick on you, I know he sounded pretty drunk but speaking good English is not the measure of a good politician.

Re: A Very Eloquent Pakistani Speaker

Indeed, you may be correct in theory. However, practically this does not work in a nation where there is a substantially powerful upper and middle class that speaks English very well and where English medium schools are seen superior in status and quality to Urdu medium schools. And clearly, a politician's schooling is of utmost importance. Likewise, as a statesman, one must be well versed in the most common langauges of the time. I'm not asking he know Chinese or French, but good God, there is something wrong if you are sorely outnumbered by Pakistani laymen who can speak better and more clearly than you. Not only is his english terrible, but look at his speech pattern. He sounds like he's on crack.

Sad thing is, I wouldn't be surprised if he does take a whiff once in a while.

Re: A Very Eloquent Pakistani Speaker

Sorry PCG but Pakistani laymen don't speak better english if they do at all.
