A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

Hello friends. Would you recomend a holidays trip to Pakistan to a couple of friends (females)?
If so, give them advises, If not, why?

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

First, tell us what do you want out of your trip? What's the purpose?

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

Pakistan is a wonderful vacation destination. For a smallish country, it has wide range of seasons, so that you can enjoy nice weather at some point of the country or another pretty much throughout the year. Purpose of your trip and your interests will dictate when you should visit and where.

If you are into outdoor activities, mountain climbing, hiking etc, and enjoy vast beaustiful areas of amazing natural beauty then Northern Pakistan (Kaghaan, Naraan, even Murree) is fabulous and should be visited in summers.

If you want to see the city-life, rich cultural heritage and colorful festivities, then visit Lahore in February (around Basant time). Karachi offers exceptional shopping experience and can be visited pretty much any time except Summers and October.

If you are more of a beach person and want to enjoy clubbing etc, then Pakistan is not really the place for you. Stick with Far-East (Thailand etc) or Middle East (Dubai etc).

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

first are you all western gals visiting pakistan?
if so i would recommend proper local type of clothing, a god knowlegde of english and if possible some urdu too.
and please don't go alone (i mean without a trustable local person) in villages, stick to big cities!
these are advices given to me by a pakistani friend.
personally i visited pakistan last septmeber, you can read my travelogue in my journal. i was allways with friends (males), for security, as i went to remote places.

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

Best time to visit Pakistan, Spring between Mid-March to end April.
Best places to go, big cities (there are loads of historical places in Big cities too).
Stay away from bordering places of Northwest & Southeast of Pakistan.
You can wear anything that covers ur shoulders & shins (a trouser would be a good example).
Alchohol is banned (only available in 5star hotels provided if u prove that u are not a muslim) & there are no night clubs in Pakistan (well not open to public, there are some private night clubs though).
Basically its a country where u can see loads of Eastern historical places, shop like a mad (its cheap) and have a good time exploring new things.

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

why is that?

Do you know people you can trust in pakistan?

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

During monsoon (Jun-Aug) Karachi is usually very hot and humid. September is usually nice, but in October a hot spell returns and is quite uncomfortable.

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

I would like to visit the North. This coming trip is an adventure. We are only girls, but I have heard many things, my bf is pakistani and he says NO, YOU DON’T GO ON YOUR OWN!!!:crying: I am not a baby and I have travelled a lot, then why not?:chusni:

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

to be honest alot of it depends on your luck. you could be kidnapped or murdered or you could have a stay where people go out of their way to respect you and help you. few people get murdered or kidnapped and it depends on your luck. i have been to places where many people thought i was crazy going but then again these people who thought thiis were misinformed. they think as soon as you step out of your local area then you will be robbed or kidnapped.

Like other people say - it depends on the time of year you go. Try to make some friends if you can over there. I personally found internet friends to be very helpful. They did at times get in the way though as they thought it was unsafe for me to go certain areas and cooped me up in the safety of their homes for hospitality.

Pakistan is very much a men's country. You will be stayed at wherever you go - the most cosmopolitan part of Karachi or a tribal village in a rural part of the country.

I would say its definitely worth the visit. When they have a clearer idea of when to go let the forum know ad Im sure they wil help you plan your trip.

Try to learn some Urdu or even regional languages before you go - it works a treat. it is a great ice breaker.

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

Pakistan is no place for a bunch of young, white girls venturing out on their own.

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

Don’t go anywhere alone. Go with someone who knows the place, and is trustworthy. It isn’t as safe as you may think, especially if you’re travelling without the company of a male.

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

Oh my God, you are scaring me!

But I know it is such a beautiful country that I wouldn’t want to miss it.
Okey I will follow your advice and try to find male company for the trip (local male company), maybe relatives of my boyfriend would be the best choice.
:jhanda:

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

Ask you BF to accompany you. That would be best. But as I said earlier, if u go to Karachi, Lahore & ISB or even places in Punjab .. it wont be dangerous. North is very nice but u must be accompanied by some male (preferably ur BF).

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

Wow .. lots of scary replies ....

Karachi is not that bad, it has all the problems that a large metroplitan city does and some common sense will help you aviod problems. Having said that I would recommend staying in Defense or Clifton area hotels where most of foreigner live. A local guide from one of larger hotel can take them to the beach, shopping and even to Moen-Jo-Dero. There are plenty of clubs for night time activities (I know we don't like to admit that).

Re: A TRIP TO PAKISTAN

I think peshawar and the pakhtoonkhwah is still the most secure place to visit only if accompnied by a friend yes I agree.
Only Paris can rival Peshawar..Nothing like Peshawar.
I will happily serve as a guide to a girl/woman visitor to Peshawar.:)
