:jhanda:

Once Edhi came to Sargodha to our school and we donated something like Rs.20,000 to his foundation. There my uncle met some white dude who was extremely well dressed. My uncle spoke to him and found out that he is a Lawyer from some well knownBritish university (forgot the name of the univ. could be Oxford) and he had a well paid job until he found out abt Edhi and he left his job and came to Pakistan to work with Edhi. He said that Edhi foundation is extremely well organized, have air amublances and wut not, and if Edhi wanted, he could've made, if not fortune, a good living out of it (and i think he deservesit too), but he only takes minimal amout of income from the foundation to support his clothes and do waqat ki roti.

and lets not forget Edhi's wife Bilquees, yet another great lady. Lets just pray for them and hope that their lagacy will continue after them.

Re: A tribute To Mr. Abdul Sattar Edhi

An excellent post!

There is just soooo much work being done by Edhi foundation (in khi esp) that the city would literally become non functional if any of the elements were removed. Everything from burial of the dead to ambulances trying to fish their way out of heavy road blocks....Honestly, Edhi is a miracle for a corrupt city like Karachi...a true miracle...

We, as a qaum, just dont appreciate enough. I've noticed that whenever someone dies, praise rises almost instantly but while he/she is alive and delivering something to society, we take it for granted.

May Allah give him a long life, filled with health. I can just imagine the praise and coverage he'll get after death instead of now when it should be focused.

PS--I met Faisal Edhi a few years back, visiting government hospitals to talk with ER docs about ambulance services. A very humble, down-to-earth, young man, following the footsteps of Edhi himself.
