If you guys get a chance, rent this movie. Its an Iranian Kurdish movie, written and directed by Bahman Ghobadi and Ali Reaza Amini. First ever movie which came out of Iran in Kurdish and quite well done.
The story is about a young boy and his family. His parents have died and he lives with his Uncle. The movie shows how he struggles to support his family and play the role of an adult thrusted upon him in so young an age, and how the siblings would make sacrifices for each other. The movie is very touching and made my mother cry. Dont worry about the language, as the english subtitiles take care of that. Get a taste of life in the mountains.

This is exactly what a movie should be like. I hope Pakistan can produce film makers who know how to really make a movie instead of copying schizophrenic, vulgar, complex filled musical garbage of bollywood.
Just imagine the powerful themed movies that we can make such as focusing on that of a family living in war torn kashmir, or hard knocked life of an afghan refugee boy, a woman in the feudal system, or a urban western educated pathan or nuristani returning home after many years etc...
Well, in the movie, the young boy would be hired by a caravan, to move goods between Iraqi and Irani border at the time of war. The terrain is rough and the weather frigid.....drunken horses are more numb to pain and discomfort and more docile I guess. An ironic touch to the life of the boy himself.

In Iran I assume there are is way more censorship then in Pakistan. Yet the Iranis have managed to produce high class films that have a message, and still manage to follow the censorship rules. Why in Pakistan can we not do the same thing? Why do our people live in the shadow of the Indians? Dont we have our own stories to tell????????
