just today i was going thru this thread where i found a really nice idea tht whenever u post a new thread and fill in the title of the thread the site searches all the simillar threads with the same titles n shows them to u so tht the same topics are not repeated …i think we need tht badly at GS as a lot of topics r repeated a lot

Nice idea, waiting for our tech guys to come and say whether it is doable.

That is the fun of GS that you can post anything and everything.
Now think it as new member. I create an ID , log in to post a thread , I am shown lots of threads with on similar topics . I have three choices.
1. I ignore that and keep on posting because I want to see my creativity online. Many many new members will do that.
2. I post a reply in one of the old thread but I will have to read many many threads before I decide which one to post it in. very few will choose to do so.
3. I get frustrated and do not post anything and never come back. A tiny fraction will do that but there will surely be some.
Now if a topic is repeated who gets hurt because of it . Nobody . If I have already participated in similar thread I ignore this thread and move on to some other thread of my liking. But there are many new members or old members with new ideas on the topic they do participate and keep GS buzzing.
