Yesterday I had to pick a present from my friend’s registry at Babies r us.
As soon as I entered the store, I got carried away. They had newer models for everything. Prettier swings, softer blankets, cuter clothes - newer gizmos and gadgets.
My 5 minute errand ran into 50 minutes as I got sucked into a world with changing tables and family rooms for nursing. All the cute bald babies slept in their carriers as their moms shopped.
Then it hit me - “I wanted all this - I should have another baby!” I was about to call my hubs on the cell phone and tell him about my decision…
My daughter was the one who brought me back to my senses informing me that my 2 year old was trying to insert herself in a bouncer meant for a 6 month old.
I quickly finished my errand
So thought I warn you folks to keep your focus and and get in and get out quickly before you get sucked in. (unless ofcourse you really want to)
lol I SO hear you! Its very hard not to get sucked into the whole consumer thang....yet looking back, my best stroller was the free umbrella stroller we got one time when we made a $50 purchase...it was so light, so foldable, so easy to steer. My big fancy stroller was really heavy, not as easy to maneuver. I had a fancy changing table. Never used it. I changed baby usually on a bed. I wanted one of those fancy nursing/rocking chairs...yet if I had spent the money, I'd likely not have used that either. I had this gorgeous crib - it was round and had all these fancy trimmings but when they were babies, my boyz slept in a porta crib right next to our bed and once they got big enough, went on to toddler beds. The crib went pretty much un-used.
Its SO very easy to get caught up in these fancy strollers, cribs and trimmings. But heck...theres usually better things to spend money on - hard as that can be when you browse thru these stores!
Mama - When I had my kids I didn't buy a lot of things. The one I got I still use like the baby monitors and crib. I return most of the fo fo stuff.
I think it's the whole atmosphere int he store. The music and the extra large bathroom and the nursing room. They want you to believe that the world is like that. Everyone is baby go go ga ga.
Infact I find the real world to be very baby UNfriendly.
LOL.So been there!
But glad that they do something so crazy , it brings you back to reality!
Also recently when my 1 year old started walking, and I felt kinda sad that there would be no more babies crawling around anymore! But then there are days when I thank the LORD I dont have to carry him around in a carrier anymore.heh
