Can you clarify something please?
He's been talking to her for ten months on a variety of ways that you listed, and you assess that he doesn't even know 10% of her personality. They don't talk about each other then? So it's (for example) just about like movies and books and music and stuff?
From what I have gathered, what they talk about is more of pleasure, s*, ma******ion.. Need I go on? ;)
To tell you the truth, it's a strange relationship whose basis is fantasy and artificiality. Maybe this is the reason that she's gotten so much obsessed with him? They haven't met in real. She's in a state of confusion cuz she has no idea where this "unique" relationship is going, so she pens all of the conversations so that she can re-read them again and again and again. He seems uninterested in knowing the other aspects of her personality. They have been intimate for so long, but still; she doesn't have the courage to confess her love to him. She's scared of the "what if" scenario.
They are still strangers, the guy doesn't know even 10% of her and she is still in LOVE with him. At least, she should be smart enough to know whether the guy wants to consider a relationship with her or not.
Her recording every conversation in the diary might make some sense if the guy has confessed his love for her (then again, this is not something healthy and it is definitely an obsession).
Ask your friend to try to probe the guy what he thinks of her. She should first try to find whether the guy is interested in her or not. If not, your friend should accept the reality asap and save herself from becoming a mentally sick person. If the guy is interested, she can continue with her obsession (although its still not healthy for her).
