Why is it ok for an Australian jew to enlist in the IDF and then fight for Israel where as an Iranian joining Hizsballah is a crime?
Re: A Simple Question…
Isn’t anyone fighting for hezbollah labelled a criminal these days? ![]()
Re: A Simple Question...
The Australian would have to have dual citizenship to join the IDF, and he would be exercising his right to fight for one of the countries underwhich he holds citizenship. Hezbollah does not represent the Government of Lebanon, and the Iranian does not hold a Lebanese passport, and is not a citizen. Many Israeli citizens hold dual citizenship, as do many citizens of the UK.
It is entirely possible that if the Iranian is paid, that he would be considered a Mercenary under international law. Since he is not there at the request of the central government, if he is fighting, then his actions would be illegal under international law.
Re: A Simple Question...
There should be no difference because if the Iranian is a terrorist as he is fighting for hezbollah the same goes for the Australian. He is fighting for the terrorist organisation IDF.
Re: A Simple Question…
If you are thinking of volunteering for the IDF, the requirements are here. Note there are different categories, including the medical corps, homeland defence, rabbinical school, and full combat troops.
Re: A Simple Question...
Thanks OG, I think it also has to do with being a Jew as well, is it right that every Jew can have an Israeli citizenship?
Thanks for the link OG, It says that all you have to be is Jewish. Thats a reason enough to join IDF.
Re: A Simple Question…
Because Jews anywhere in the world is a Jew!
In our case we are pakistanis, iranis, iraqi, sunnis, shias, right, wrong, false, true and you know the story…
Re: A Simple Question...
You believe everything what the media shows...globalization... :)
Re: A Simple Question...
All of the programs from that link indicate that you must be a Jew, unfortunately the detail page for all the programs is in Hebrew, so I am lost. Suffice it to say that the govenment of Israel has formal programs for volunteers.
Iranians fighting with Hezbollah are doing so without the permission, or perhaps knowledge of the Official Lebanese Government.
Re: A Simple Question...
^^Muslims don't need any permission from anybody except from Allah...howzaaaaat... :)
Re: A Simple Question...
Fine, if you think Warlords and Militias are good for Muslims. I think these heavily armed unelected entities that work outside the realm of a formal government have killed one hell of a lot of Muslims with their violence.
But, if you want to become cannon fodder somewhere, more power to you.
Re: A Simple Question...
^^ Thank you...be prepared for some taste... :)
Re: A Simple Question...
^ You might be wrong here, no Muslim can join any Muslim Majority country's army. I bet if you are Paksitani you can not even join Pakistani Army let alone for being Muslim.
So let give the credit where its due, at least Israel makes sure that if you are Jewish you can join the IDF in different capacities, surely they deserve to represrent the Jews.
Re: A Simple Question…
Or if Ameica is giving Israel state of the art of weaponary that ends of killing civilians, they why can Iran, Syria or anyone else give the Lebanese weapons that they can defend themselves with?
