sorry for hijacking the thread, but what is wrong or strange about a father looking out for his daughter? why does the woman (who possibly may not know the girl as well as the father) do the rishta hunt only?

its usuallly not our tradition. in our culture [indo pak muslim culture] fathers don't do this. in older times, even girl's family didn't send rishta...it was the boy's family's moral obligation to send rishta. and that was the norm. i admit times and things are changing but we are NOT there yet...it may takle sometime. i'm a bit traditionalist so it was kinda ODD to me.**
