A reference Forum

I would like to suggest to create a Reference Forum where only high-level information is provided. For example, in Khel Khilari / Cricketnama, we can create a section where basic rules of cricket can be posted, picture depicting the field showing what region is called mid-on, fine-leg etc.

Similarly, for Pakistan Affairs, a section depicting Pakistan’s map, major cities and other information.

I know its all available and accessible via “google”, but many a times we refer to outside links, and after sometimes those links may be dead/broken but if it is an internal reference we don’t have to rely on other sites to keep such information alive for us.

Just an idea :~)

Re: A reference Forum

high level information? please eloberate
Also why it can't be accomplished using the same forum?
Will you be asking for several sticky's next?
Though I must admit, not a bad idea for PCB and Ministry of Information official sites

Re: A reference Forum

can somebody tell me what a Googly is?

Re: A reference Forum

you eat it with salad, you just sprinkle it on the green part, it tastes a little tangy :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: A reference Forum

By high level I mean surface level, not too deep, not on ‘01011001100’ level info  . For example how cricket is played, but not going too deep into rules of 'if the ball hits batsman’s bat then pad then a fielder catches and drops and hits … " … provide graphical information what “deep square leg” is. For example map of Pakistan depicting major metropolitan areas, and as you suggested govt info (contact info will be bonus). For technology, what is “network”, “proxy”, “server” etc without going into “windowing” technique of TCP protocol

Re: A reference Forum

I am all for it. I personally think it is going to prove very helpful, not only to all the guppies of this board, but also to the rest of the folks who visit this site via the 'guest' status, and besides reading the point of views of various levels of discussion, high-level information can be obtained if this feature were to be implemented.

Not a bad idea at all. Increasing site visitors and keeping the current ones in check is something I would prefer doing for my site if I were to be an administrator.

Re: A reference Forum

Captain Bro, I hope you do realize and appreciate the differnce between a discussion board vs. encyclopedia site. If you were to search this board thoroughly, I am sure you’ll get answer to almost all your queries.

Re: A reference Forum

As we add more features to GS in future we will keep your suggestion in mind. Thank your for raising it here.
