Re: A really sad incident ...
I don't feel like going to basant No more
Re: A really sad incident …
sad indeed but..
most of the comments are coming from people who have never attended any basant or even flew a kite in their life! some idiots also relate it to hinduism .. people not from Lahore has absoloutely no idead what basant is..
banning is same as banning driving cars since some drunk drivers kill instead of trying to control drunk driving.. its govt responsibility to catch illegal chemical or strings..
millions celebrate it and love it.. here is a link to it..
Re: A really sad incident ...
It is sad to read that someone got hurt yet again by this.:(
there are some social aspects that must be considrered before putting a ban on basant
1. there are many people whose bread and butter is selling those kites and things related to it
2. It has become a social event, all cultures need some social events to get their frustrations out..as far as Pakistani nation is concerned we are in dire need of those events.
3. t earns our country revenues(promotes tourism), if publicised on large scale.
4. islamically it is not wrong
it is not a good idea to straight away put a ban on basant
no ones denying of the bad effects of basant but govt. has to come up with some other definite ways so that this event can be celebrated within the limits identified, as it is celebrated in China and Japan
Re: A really sad incident ...
Degas, car is listed in the necesseties and it is used in daily life. Kite flying is just for fun. I would oppose if someone drives a car in wrong way and at high speed on roads.
Re: A really sad incident ...
Since we are at it so please condemn another risky sport which claims lives of dozens of youngsters all year round.
The demise of the youngster is however sad and tragic. but please look at a wider picture. Kite flying is not the only sport which claims lives in Pakistan !!

Motorcycle stunt casualties mar every festive day
LAHORE: No festive occasion has gone by without youths falling prey to the menace of one-wheeling, be it Independence Day, New Year’s Eve or Eid. Over the past few years, this ‘craze’ has only gained momentum and does not seem to be waning.
Two more daredevils lost their lives performing motorcycle acrobatics on the city streets on Eidul Azha. Fifteen-year-old Imran and his cousin Ali ran into a car coming from the opposite direction while one-wheeling in the South Cantt police precincts. Imran, who was driving, lost control of the bike and fell over.
The fall killed him instantly, while Ali died later at the hospital. Stunt-related deaths have now become common in the city. Last year, six youths died on Independence Day, three on Eidul Fitr and four on New Year’s Eve*, while in total, 45 youngsters aged between 14 to 27 lost their lives during the past year**.*
A senior police official, requesting anonymity, said that it was not their responsibility to stop the one-wheelers, however, if they spotted any, they did take action. “But even then, there is a chance that a youngster might lose control of his bike if the police are chasing him and we would eventually get blamed for his death,” he said, adding, “It is a matter of free will, you can never tell which biker turns out to be a one-wheeler”.
“It’s not like we don’t hear about people dying, its your own choice and we think this is at least better than doing drugs,” said Umair Butt of Faisal Town. He said that they needed a place to display their skills, but the government wanted to put an end to their ‘art’. Most of the stunt-riders Daily Times spoke to wanted recognition for skill.
Abdul Shakoor, a psychiatrist from a local hospital said that these youngsters wanted to make their presence felt in the society. He said that it was parents’ responsibility to ensure that their children were not involved in such activities. aayan ali

Re: A really sad incident ...
Code Red: that is right... it should be condemned..
But the topic at hand is Basant and kite flying. We are talking about the death caused by it. You should also condemn this.
Re: A really sad incident …
Code Red, this is not Religion forum.![]()
Re: A really sad incident …
Before spewing rubbish, why don’t you brush up on that history lesson you’ve been putting off. Saves you a moment of humiliating yourself.
FYI, I’ve been to basant and I absolutely hated the buzz everyone was getting while flying a freggin kite and getting all hyped up with the vulgar songs playing in the background.
Re: A really sad incident …
Yes I have absolutely NO PROBLEMS with this GREAT FUN of kite flying, off course it is a part of our culture and we would rather die than quit patang baazi.
The only thing I would like to see is a DEATH sentence for anyone who is found responsible for incidents such as this (mentioned below)
Another 2 and half year old kid lost his life today. His neck separated from the body by someone who was JUST HAVING FUN and doing Patang Baazi
Idiots…

Re: A really sad incident …
IF I were the president of Pakistan, I would ban patang baazi and put those people in prison for life who are responsible for these innocent deaths.

Re: A really sad incident …
OMG, really sad. And now this stupid game of death has started in Multan too.![]()
And court has expanded it for more 4 days in Lahore.
I would suggest the punishment of a trip for whole day on bikes of the city during basant.
This is really sad.:hinna:
