try Saathiya..its not as good as his other ones..but still very good :k:
i love saathiya and mera yaar miladay..
he is the da best there is.
superb sesational and above all knows music inside out, his music is sensual bold and at the same time unique, somthing which you either love it or loath it.
never missed a single song by this guy.
He is the only composer who is worth wasting you money on at the momment in india
Sathiya is pritty cool n funky. Wordings unique comparing to others but typical when it comes to gulzar still it wouldn’t make me think any less of his writting proz, and his command over urdu :k:
AR Rehman is good but the only thing which I don't like about him is that he repeats himself and only composes in one style...some people think that's good but I think every composer needs to experiment a little here and there and compose different music some times...There is no doubt AR Rehman is an excellent music director...but he should try composing some different tunes.
After Dil Se - a masterpiece, the only work worth mentioning is Taal. Otherwise, the rest of it has been unoriginal reworked stuff with a few good songs sprinkled here and there.
Saathiyaa is not too impressive. He's done better.
A R Rehman was good in BOMBAY too.
The thing about Rehman is that he does not lift songs in toto like some of the other Indian music directors, he copies specific beats, puts in some masala and some chatni and then presents it as his own.
So you can say his songs are "inspired" and not "copied or plagiarized" from someone else's songs.
Some years back I was listening to this music album called "DEEP FOREST" and the music I heard had an uncanny resemblance to a Rehman song (I now forget which one was it).
Also, you can usually tell from listening to a song that the music is by Rehman.... because while his music is distinctive it is also repetative...
saathiyaa & udi udi udi! r nice! :k:
Sathiya is brilliant specially folk song by Sadhna and Madhushree.

*Trust me PCG, the album grows on you. I wasn't impressed much either when I listened to it for the first time, but gradually my opinion did change about the songs. People, That Is All.*

very true. This is usually the beauty of Rehman;s album.More you listen to it more you wana listen to it.
Saathiya is ok album...A good album if it was by some other music director...but AR Rehman has put his standards high after Taal and Dil Se...Saathiya is no where close to the masterpiece's Taal and Dil Se...these 2 albums were absoultly spetacular...especially Dil Se!
I generally like a good lot of his work, he has a distinctive style for sure.
LOVED Dilse and Bombay, Taal was great too, i liked a couple of songs from Pukaar.
yeah dilsay and taal were probably his best ones..but i just love that mera yaar mila dein saaeen..thats AWESOME!!
i just dont' know half the song :(
wat does he say??
mera tootta tootta falak chanda??
mere toottay ttoottay taray chunnay??
i know i have it wrong..
pagal yaar assumin you aint be payin for my services I still try my best to give you rough naqasha of the song
to start with songs is written in mix language urdu/panjabi by gulzar who is himself is pujabi.
he starts with
all I came cross was deserts and barrens when I went searchin for heaven
and look in search of you my beloved how many dark & black paths I have trevlled.[somthin of dat sort:D]
meindaa(punjabi word for meraa) yaar milaa de saayiaan
eik baar milaa de sayiaan
mein ne potaa potaa(is punjabi word for tip of your finger, basically all he is sayin is I have searched the area measuring with my finger tips ) falak chaana meanin I've search sky with all my efforts [like you would go about searchin if your koka drops in drak right :) specially if its 22crt gold one.]
mein ne potaa potaa falak channa
mein ne totay totay(another panjabi word for peices) taare chune
sirf eik teri a'hat(noise of your presence) ke liye kankar(pebbles) pathar(stones) bot(statues) saare sunne
wicked song
ooohhhhh thank u so much!!! see when i thought it was pootta..i took it as grandson so i was like that cna't be it..
I know..I am IN LOVE with the freaken song!!!
whenever I get the feeling that AR Rahman is losing his touch , he comes with a winner...while Saathiya might not be in his better works but still its good...people rate Dil se / Bombay / Taal higher but I would say his score for Roja ( 92) and now recently Lagaan are among the best..
got this album...was thinkin A.R.Rahman and gulzar...can't get any better than that...but really, it wasn't anythin outstanding...he has done better, and can do much better...
AR Rehman can do better but still Saathiya is a good album. Saaithya, Mera Yaar Miladey, and Chupke Se, are my favorite tracks of the album!
good songs specially chupke say :k:
A. R. Rehman = good music :)
Rahman's masterpiece has undoubtedly been the film "Roja". "Saathiya"s music was made for the original tamil movie "Alaipayuthe", and hence its lyrics in hindi are pretty muddled up when they tried to write words for a set tune.
what really stands out is, a lot of Rahman's music gets made into both tamil and hindi songs, but the tamil ones are almost always one level smoother. for saathiya fans, check out alaipayuthe songs and you'll wanna kill sonu nigam and slap adnan sami khan silly for ruining melodies.
