A quick question...baraat stay arrangements?

If the barat is coming from another city, who arranges for their stay? The girl’s side?

Their son works in the same city but is sharing apartment with a few other guys so his family can’t stay with him. Should he arrange for his family’s stay or is it the girl’s side’s responsibility?

Re: A quick question...baraat stay arrangements?

He should arrange for his family & guests. You arrange your guests.

That's what we've heard too. But his mom hinted that its our responsibility to arrange for their stay since they dont live there. Sigh :/

Re: A quick question...baraat stay arrangements?

I'm sorry, that sucks. It's not your responsibility. :(

If barat is coming from another city, why do they need to stay anywhere anyway. Aren’t they going to go back where they came from?

Re: A quick question...baraat stay arrangements?

There are a lot of different ways this can work. I've often seen it done that the bride's side will at least select/recommend a hotel or block of rooms for wedding guests (for the barat and even for their own side). Sometimes they may offer to pay for the guy's immediate family's accommodations, though I think the groom's side usually says that's not necessary. Negotiating that depends on individual families. It also depends on if the groom's side already has close family in the area, in which case it would not be expected that the bride's side would need to take this on. For the valima, it should work the other way around, as the groom's side are the hosts and should offer to help with the bride's side's accommodations (in finding, selecting, booking, etc, depending on what each family needs and is comfortable with).
