A Question

Re: A Question

Isnt praying one of the 5 pillars of Islam? I mean the importance of prayer has been stressed many many times in the Quran.

As for drinking and eating pork, those are clearly forbidden in Islam.

If he observed prayers along with everything I would think he was a Muslims who is busy in doing wrong with the drinking etc. But thats just my opinion.

Re: A Question

I don't see the big deal here... if we had to absolutely classify the individual, why can't he simply be a non-practicing Muslim like a lot of other people. I know a lot of us were taught "Buniya-al-Islam ala Khamsa" - "Islam's based on five pillars"... but to adhere by those pillars is the sign of a "practicing" Muslim.

But honestly, I don't know why we have the urge to put people in different boxes... weren't we taught "Lakum Deenukum Wa Lia Deen" - "to you... your way of life and to me mine".

So leave it to God to decide whether he's sinning or not... whether he's gonna be punished or rewarded.

So like someone said earlier... Allahu A'alam.

Re: A Question

Does he claim to be a muslim? Claiming to be a muslim and feeling like a muslim are to different things in my opinion. Things that are forbidden in Islam are very clear..he can't do them and represent the muslim community at the same time.

Re: A Question

I dont think that he cares; I ran into him because of a project and seeing his muslim sounding name asked if he were of muslim faith to which he replied (see post #1) and asked me the question if I considered him muslim. I brushed it off by invoking "hell do I know I myself am labeled as a qadiyani". He was surprised at that cause he had never heard of Qadiyanis. ut I was not sure and told him that I will ask and find out 'cause it is somewhat of a thought provoking question, knowing fully well that "to you your religion and to me mine".

Re: A Question

I don’t think it is he who should care..it’s the muslim community who should be worried that they are being misrepresented. I think he is very well aware of it and that’s why didn’t give you a straight answer.

Re: A Question

to say the least....just ask him if he consider himself as a Muslim ...if he do then ok..becuz ure not the 1 who has to judge him watever he do ....he is goin to answer Allah for his own deeds not u... so the point is just ask him what religion he belongs and thats it ...

Re: A Question

BASIC DEFINITION OF ISLAM IS SHAHADAH- The first pillar of Islam- If you believe In God and that Mohammad (P.B.U.H) is his last prophet then you are a muslim - I have seen many muslims who donot pray 5 times a day ,fast 2-3 days on average in ramadan, drink a lot of beer and still consider themselves as muslims. So there can be a thing as a bad muslim or a good muslim but if he has this belief then he is a muslim. But if he has doubts within himself whether he is a muslim or not verizon then how can we decide.
One more thing only God can decide whether a muslim is good or bad we humans are not in a position to decide that. All I know that in Islam you cannot even call yourself as a bad muslim. Even that is considered a sin. Like Hazrat Umar once said that (I dunno the exact words) " I have so much faith in Allah that On the day of judgement if a decision is made that every one is going to hell except one person , I will think that I am that lucky person going to heaven. And I have so much fear of Allah that If on the day of Judgement if a decision is made that everyone is going to heaven except one person, I will be really afraid that I might be that person".....

Re: A Question
