93 or 03, its beside the point. i have seen kids tied up, or being searched at gunpoint, asked to put thier hands in the air etc. myself, and that too on sky news and other western channels. So dont attempt to make a non issue in to one.
It is absolutely relevant WHEN this picture was taken!
Why would MuslimNEWS republish a picture nearly 18 months after it was taken, as if it was happening today? What would motivate them to do this?
because its still pretty common?

Now why would this picture be posted NOW as if this were recent news?

Make up your mind uncle, in 1993 or 18 months ago?
Here is what happened stupid lemming people.
Take a good look at the first picture.
See the soldiers helmet? The insignia is that of the Third Infantry Division, the first division into Baghdad. They were also the first division to leave, and they have not yet returned. (2003, my bad)
See the black container by his left elbow, that is a gas mask container. Gas Masks were only carried the first week or two after pushing into Baghdad. More than likely this is one of the first “raids”, and everybody was doing it by the book.
So why would “Muslimnews” republish this very old picture NOW?
To keep you emotional and fired up! See how well it works? You see this picture it is like pushing a hot button. You react exactly like a good Muslim should react. Frikkinn’ lemming. Let’s keep the masses fired up! They will always believe pictures like thes, and the more we repeatively publish them the more we can exploit the same emotions. Nothing nasty on the Americans today? Let’s dredge up something old and watch them overreact.
You are so predictable.
^^OG
as in a Subarctic rodent with thick furry skin?
:nono3: Let’s play nice !!
Sheik Sahiba, is that what you called me. Yeah OK wink wink.
"as in a Subarctic rodent with thick furry skin?"
As in "an unquestioning herd of lemmings racing over a cliff without questioning the direction of the herd"
I don't play nice.
OG: 18 months ago or yesterday, the thing is, its still happening. Not many muslims around the world visit the site, (cuz its uk based) but loads of people see it on their TV daily anyway. Dont you think that would fire them up regardless? so what difference does it make. The point is, it still happens, so why are you keen on digressing from the topic at hand for? you lemon
"The point is, it still happens"
No, it HAPPENED, past tense. Of course you could rewrite the story with a different slant. The US troops did handcuff everyone in the first weeks after taking Baghdad. Iraqis told them this was unneccessary. So the US troops CHANGED their procedures to knocking on the door, checking with the man of the house and insuring that all of the women were in a separate room. This increased cooperation a great deal, and ironically, most of the "Raids" were one neighbor ratting out another to satisfy some percieved vendetta. You could write this story lots of different ways. Check it out yourself.
"Us troops change methods to be more culturally sensitive"
"US troops often used by neighbors"
INSTEAD, this web site chose to run a very dated picture with no explaination. This leaves the reader to ASSUME (as you have done) that this is STILL going on, and inflames Muslims.
Why? That is what Muslims like to read. This web site is giving people what they want. They want to suck up the latest "outrage". The majority of this stuff is essentially Tabloid quality reporting. There is a grain of truth, but the image or the story is manipulated to inflame Muslims. so when the web site cannot find a current outrage, they resurrect an old favorite sure to get people riled up.
Be a brave lemming, and write the webmaster and ask when this picture was first taken, and why it was run today! See what the response is.

U.S. re-evaluates ‘iron fisted’ strategy in Iraq
Military says large sweeps may be counterproductive
By MICHAEL R. GORDON
THE NEW YORK TIMES
BAGHDAD, Iraq – The U.S. military, in a major revision of strategy, has decided to limit the scope of its raids after receiving warnings from Iraqi leaders that they were alienating the public, the top allied commander said yesterday.
In its search for Baath Party operatives and other foes, the U.S. military has carried out large sweeps, some of which have rounded up hundreds of Iraqis.
But Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, the chief commander of allied forces in Iraq, said in an interview that the military had virtually exhausted the gains from this approach and that continuing it could be counterproductive.
“It was a fact that I started to get multiple indicators that maybe our iron-fisted approach to the conduct of ops was beginning to alienate Iraqis,” Sanchez said. “I started to get those indications from a variety of sources, all the way from the Governing Council on down to average people.”
The change in approach comes at an important juncture for the U.S.-led coalition. The United States and its allies are trying to defeat loyalists to Saddam Hussein’s toppled government and other foes, including foreign Islamic fighters.
At the same time, they are striving to maintain the support of an Iraqi public that has had to struggle with erratic electrical power supplies, wide-scale unemployment and rampant crime and which, despite the disorder, has not always been reassured by the presence of U.S. troops.
U.S. forces have mounted major operations, such as Soda Mountain, which sought to break up a possible insurgent offensive. That operation, which was conducted in mid-July, involved 143 raids across Iraq. Sanchez said last month that almost 700 criminals and loyalists to the old government were detained and that 64 were “high-value targets.”
But Iraqis have complained that during these raids too many of those rounded by U.S. troops were not Baath Party operatives but ordinary citizens.
They say the U.S. tactics have been too aggressive and not sensitive enough to Iraqi culture and traditions.
U.S. commanders said they decided to revise their approach after concluding that the number of attacks against U.S. forces had subsided somewhat and that Iraqis were providing more intelligence, a development that U.S. officers say will enable them to take more of a “precision approach” in planning their operations to capture or kill former ranking officials from Saddam’s government.
But the new U.S. approach also reflects a recognition that widespread raids could unintentionally be creating a reservoir of support for the insurgents or even spurring revenge attacks by ordinary citizens.
Sanchez said: “Initially, after the first three weeks after we declared an end to major operations we quickly realized that there was a non-compliant element out there that was very willing to conduct ops against us to kill us and therefore we had to go out there and do these big sweeps. Unquestionably, I think, we created in this culture some Iraqis that then had to act because of their value systems against us in terms of revenge, possibly because there were casualties on their side and also because of the impact on their dignity and respect.”
The general added that Iraqi leaders who supported the allies had indicated they understood the goal of the U.S. raids, but that some had expressed concern over their effects on the Iraqi population.
The raids have not stopped however. U.S. forces captured four suspected leaders of the anti-U.S. resistance in Iraq during pre-dawn raids today, the military said, a day after the Americans netted 18 suspected Saddam Hussein loyalists and found a huge stockpile of weapons.
One suspect from today’s action allegedly organized cells and armed guerrilla fighters for attacks on U.S. forces in Saddam’s hometown of Tikrit, said Lt. Col. Steve Russell of the 4th Infantry Division, which carried out the raids.

Maybe this will help you.
9/11 has no bearing on the War on Terrorism today because it happened 3 years ago. It is only mentioned to ignite flames in the people like you. You see, this is the root of the American problem and their programmed way of thinking. (that is when they are not staring goats in the eyes hoping to kill them using telepathic power). Yes, your military actually practices it in secret labs!
You operate a double standard hypocritical thesis. One rule for one and one rule for another, when it suits your desires. Exactly like your responses.
Right about now, you will believe that Bush is Jesus who's returned to give you salvation.
The elders in Pakistan say 'once an ass always and ass'! Take heed.
Sorry, don't buy it. Posting a photo and leaving the reader with the impression that this is recent, and that nothing has changed is deceptive. It does not mean that damage was not done to the child and family etc, but it DOES decieve gullible readers and inflames hatred.
If US media outlets were running scenes filmed during 9/11 and showing them today as if it was a new attack, that would be comparable. And that certainly would inflame and breed hatred.

No-ones asking you to buy it. Just be fair across the board in your analogies.

OG grow up. People will do anything for their advantage. Your politicians invoked 9/11 every friggin chance they got. Remember Dick cheney with his comments "if you elect dems terrorists will attack" (very mature statement coming out of a VP).
As far as you criticizing Arab media. You keep posting the military websites as well. You may think they are credible (coming out of a naval base in Newport RI) I sure in the hell don't. Mil websites are nothing but more propaganda to pump adrenaline in aholes like you so you can stand up and justify all the f'ups by your mil.
Now go away you puny little lemming and follow your mil websites and crusader Bush.
Awww VZ,

Doesn’t happen anymore huh? Which world are you living in? Oh yeah, the one where the US is capable of no wrong.
Your pimply faced heroes have gone a step further.
They now handcuff female doctors in the process of delivering a baby.
They now assault doctors helping patients.
They now bomb the Iraqi General Hospital to kill doctors and the wounded.
Next time get your facts straight.
Such scum don’t deserve a death as honorable as beheadings.
