I have heared of a hadith where Prophet s.a.w said abt 2nd caliph that if their was a prophet after me that wud be umer.
Isnt Prophet s.a.w declaring that after me umer is caliph of all muslims ?

‘If’ is an operative word in this hadith ..
Prophet also said about abu bakar (when he entered Masjid-e-nabawi from his death bed) to be Imam and lead the prayer. That is the prove enough that Prophet wanted him to be next Imam and that was the reason of sahaba choosing him to be the Caliph
