Hi everyone.. Long story short I have been married for 1.5 years. Right a month after my marriage my mil secretly borrowed my gold keeping it as rehen.(prev threads) everyone came to know abt it.. big mess.. strained relationships now better but nothing yet came back.. I m not even sure if it will ever come back to me.. my question here is I had total 30 tolas of gold. of which mil brought 4 in my wedding.. but the gold which is on debt is 9 tolas.. including 5 from my parents side.. am I supposed to pay zakat on the whole 30 tolas.. or exclude that from zakat. I don’t even know if she will or wont be able to get me back my jewellery also… what m I supposed to do in such a situation

you pay zakaat on the asset you hold and you are the rightful owner and a full year has passes since you acquired them.
