celebrating eid with new cloths and gifts is a ‘luxury’ ? since when ?
Prophet (pbuh) stressed countless time on the virtues of exchanging gifts…
I remeber vaugely some incidents where prophet (pbuh) or some noble companion when they gave away their new cloths to less fotunate people before eid and celebrated eid wearing old dress.
I believe that considering the specific timing of this charity, it clearly shows that Allah wants muslims to share the joy of Eid with their poor brothers and sisters. No just provide resources to feed them, which should be done all year round
Anyway, sadqa-e-fitr is a small amount hardly few dollars so it is better to make it a round firugre (on upper side)
