does it snow over there aswell? :)
for the tayammum question, from what i heard, if its a desperate situation than you may do tayammum from the wetness of the ice. And i dont think that means rubbing blocks of ice on your face or something, but just the wetness. dont quote me though, do your own research on it.
i m sure gupguppy can help me but i remember that there is a hadith that says taht one sahabi prayer while in janaba with out doing ghusl and when rasul :saw: asked him he said oh rasul of allah :saw: allah tells us not to kill our selves and he :saw: smiles, indicating that it was ok otherwise he would have said something
wallah o alam
When desperate, you should think of saving your life. Simply you wont need to do wazu/tayamum if you don’t have anything. read the para gupguppy posted
Your question is more hypothetical than practical… If your life in danger then you will be praying for your life, not caring about wazu shazu
Its somewhat like a question some boy asked some aalim…
** In which direction do I pray, when I am on the moon…** :rotato:
when i said 'desperate' i what i meant was when you didnt have any other means of whudhu or enough time to melt ice. Not in the sense that your desperate for survival.
Also, my question (about praying) was a light hearted comment, and i wasn't expecting any serious answers. :)
Here’s how it is in Sunan Abu Dawud, Vol.1, No.334…
Narrated Amr ibn al-'As:
I had a wet dream on a cold night in the battle of Dhat al Salasil. I was afraid that if I washed I would die. I therefore performed tayammum and led my companions in the dawn prayer. They mentioned that to the Prophet (saw). He said: Amr, you led your companions in prayer while you were sexually defiled? I informed him of the cause which impeded me from washing. And I said: I heard Allah say: “Do not kill yourself, verily Allah is merciful to you.” The Messenger of Allah (saw) laughed and did not say anything.
I believe it is also in Sahih al Bukhari with a partial isnad.
^ Agreed, but I was not in battle & Ive seen commandos take very harsh training in da army...they are thrown in ice cold water & told to swim...brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
