A question for both Shias and Sunnis

I have a question, for both Shias and Sunnis.

Who here thinks that what we are debating (if you can call it that) here is going to make a difference?

Every single thing has been debated before and arguments put forth. The only thing that changes over time is that arguments get distorted and hatred spreads. None of you can put an argument that will convince the ‘other’ side, so what is the point of all this? Does it make you feel better that you’re putting the other side down? Whats the point of having an argument that has no end?

Half the topics listed in the religion forum are these shia / sunni fights. Someone gets their hand on a 10 page article and within minutes, its posted here (Thanks to Microsoft for the Cut n’ Paste feature). Who wrote that article? How much truth is in it? Is it decent to post such an inflamatory article? Is anyone going to be hurt by it? Nothing matters. I’ll just keep on loading ammo and firing it. Who cares what happens?

There are so many other topics that can be covered but, they might not be as exciting as bashing the other sect. I’m sure there are lots of sunni and shias on GUPSHUP that don’t like what they see in the religion forum. I ignore this forum most of the time, just because I don’t care for the sunni, shia debate.

Can’t we all just get along, and leave the passing of judgment on each other to God. Eventually we’ll know who was on the right side and who wasn’t.

Interesting…why don’t you go ahead and post some other more interesting topics…things you wanna say, or questions you wanna ask… ?

Maybe that will move the participants to more ‘positive’ line of thinking…right?

This forum is what we make it out to be. If participants like you keep silent, the topics will continue to revolve around secretarian differences… if you want to make a difference, come out and post stuff that interests you.

Completely agree with you nomaan bhai, but more people here want to fight, and judge people, and the ones that don't are kind of quite, who are just ignoring it...We should stop this, cause us fighting about doesn't change anything, just makes things worse...it's so bad especially during ramadan, this is the shaitaan's work, and we are being influenced by it, we need to be stronger, and stop judging and control your anger, if someone says something about you and they are wrong, then correct them, don't insult them, don't decrease to their level...if they are ignorant that is their problem, why waste your time fighting them...

If you think Educating is pointless than let it be!

I(me, myslef and I)Dont want Converts(we all are muslims right?)I just wana educate that we(shias)are NOT what others blame us to be!

And about the debate stuff,
It is so natural to debate(and when pakis Debate? ooh boy!)It is just that prople are not tollerant enough!

you call this education? what can i say to that

nothing

nomaan, I for one am sick of seeing “shia/sunni” threads everytime i come to the religion forum…i can honestly say i dont visit those threads because to me its all pointless. Everyone ends up arguing, fighting and getting banned

(well some people anyway)
any of the threads i have started in this forum have to do with “Islam” as a whole…and i agree, we could be discussing other useful topics here but most people seem to like this ‘shia/sunni’ controversy and thats exactly why those threads are still here…infact, there’s new ones everyday. I guess the guppies here should stop participating in them if they truly care about unity in Islam.

Exactly HK and appkiamaanat. I think we can have a new forum just for the sunni/shia debate. That'll clean up the religion forum.
