a question abt ielets..

I have heard that if u have done Olevels then u don have to do IELETS..PLease anyone could let me know if this information is correct or noT.
Thx to those who reply

Re: a question abt ielets..

^^^ i dont think its linked to o level at all. IELTS is english test for people whose first language is not English. there is no direct exemption for it. if its for university education etc then it depends on the uni to wave this. but for other formal memberships or qualification where its required no such exemption are given.

mostly if people have done similar TOEFL they dont have to go IELTS.

Re: a question abt ielets..

YEAH - i think u st*ill need to - *

what course u r u doing it for???

Re: a question abt ielets..

yes i think there's an exemption for those doing TOEFL

Re: a question abt ielets..

Yes, you don't have to do IELTS, If you have grade C or above in the English Language.

Re: a question abt ielets..

PN, why do you want to do IELTS? if you have studied English at this level then no need for that, some students also get exemption for this provided a certificate of English Proficiency. Do you want to get admission in UNI? or do you want to migrate anywhere. For post grad study normally required is 6/6.5 band in Academic IELTS, though General IELTS is easy in reading and writing sections.
In reality this exam has nothing to do with the people whose first language is not English because first speakers of English (British) cannot pass this test with 6/7 band. A teacher told me that (his wife is lecturer of IELTS teaching in a local college) his wife could not pass this test, same is the case with him. Moreover he added, its extremely stressful exam to discourage Speakers of English as a second language, just to show the authority.
I have same opinion, might be that is the reason some people have been unable to get required score for professional registrations.
Good Luck.
