…Pakistani society back during the 80s. Okay, if you watch her videos like:
or
She’s baring her legs till her knees. I’m wondering how did people react to that? But then at the same time, everyone loves her and doesn’t question het character like people/aunties would nowadays. Granted, she’s possibly the most classiest woman to have ever lived but I find it a little odd that it was acceptable back then and not now, sadly. How did Pakistanis get so gudgemental?
Ptv never aired those videos esp Ankhein milane wale, dum dum deedee etc. They had other studio versions and videos in which the duo sang for some awards for these as far as I remember.
And there were no other channels so max pakistanis didnt get to see these.
But yea Bhutto's era was quite soft on censor. Remember plays like Parchayyan and others.
Plus nazia hassan was from UK
This is the first time i have heard of this woman... in the days she supposedly appeared on TV i doubt there was a single TV set back in my home village.
Besides those days of my youth were spent trying to eke out a living and survive the harsh northern winters and burning merciless summers.
Like someone mentioned earlier i doubt most Pakistani's ever saw this... apart from the few city dwellers and middle classes or upper classes.
She might come across as a classy woman but i'll give you class... in the days i served with the Northern light Infantry we still listened to Madam Noor Jahan and co on the radio... just like our forebears back in 65... and even 71.
I suppose those who were better off got to see this sort of trash... personally if this had been shown to the masses of the day.... i believe there would have been a dicidedly different reaction.
