The shift to the right was catalyzed by the insane dictator called Zia-ul-Haq (may he rot in hell) who basically radicalized the whole population. He was from the rural-conservative setup of the Pakistani heartland and reflected his upbringing and background in his actions.

Nazia Hassan came from a pretty affluent Karachi-based (though her background is Punjabi) family. Trust me, Karachi is another planet compared to the rest of Pakistan.

Character has absolutely nothing to do with baring legs. I have seen what some head-to-toe burqa-clad do. Even though she was one of the most popular and good-looking girl, yet I have never heard of any of Nazia’s affairs with anyone.

In order to praise Nazia Hassan, we don’t need to look down at burqa clad women or are we just being Pakistanis here?
