Is it possible for Allah (swt) to create a rock so big that He cannot lift it?
I know this is an example based upon human actions, but it’s just an example.

Re: A question about God
It’s a paradox, and a well known one. More than anything, it serves to illustrate the limits of logic, especially when self-reference is involved.
The complete argument goes, that if omnipotence allows one to do anything, can that person create a rock that they can’t lift.
The flaw with this argument is that it assumes NOTHING is impossible, or that such is the trait of omnipotence. Limiting the all powerful, however, is by definition impossible. It’s an exercise of simply inserting a contradiction into the premise of the statement.
Now, if one really needs an answer, the answer is yes: God simply creates a rock and through sheer force of will vows never to lift it. Although this does not imply a physical limitation of God (which the premise assumes is possible), it does imply that God will never physically lift said rock. Yeah, we can play this game too…
Re: A question about God
^ haha thankyou.
See, I asked my dad the same question and he just said "Beta you shouldn't limit Allah (swt)'s power to that of humans".
Then, I asked my teacher and he said "He can, but it would be beyond explanation for us puny humans to be able to fully grasp it."
Your answer has been the most logical I've heard yet.
Re: A question about God
Mere words by humans forming an uneligible argument to fit God into his own psyche...
I too can form many ridiculous arguments and so can anyone...
Can God make something go forward and backward at the same time?
Can God make something go up and down at the same time?
Can God make something blue and green at the same time?
and so on...
Words don't make logic and logic doesn't rely on words...
And logic, for us humans, is limited to the first heaven...
Re: A question about God
For all we know, the mechanism through which God moves things is such that the mass of the object does not matter.
Re: A question about God
How can Allah (swt) not be able to lift his own creation? ![]()
Re: A question about God
Yes but then how can Allah (swt) NOT make something? ![]()
Re: A question about God
As mentioend above - the statement itself is flawed. There is a whole science regarding creating these statements and proving them logically and it can be proved with that logic in it is flawed.
There is also another way prove it wrong. Google it ...
Re: A question about God
I am amazed that people waste time on useless discussions and questions.
Sorry just had to mention my thought on this thread. But whatever floats your boat guys/gals. :-)
Re: A question about God
I am curious to know what did you find wrong with the above two statements.
