This whole ‘don’t judge’ concept has been abused and misused to death lately.
If somebody is openly spreading false information or doing something that is considered wrong, then there is nothing wrong with pointing that out. Actually it needs to be pointed out so that people don’t get misleaded by it and don’t accept is as the truth.
Doing so is not called ‘judging’. So let’s not bring this argument into every single context.
One cant have it both ways. It is the conservative who play the don’t judge card “only God can judge”. Unless of course they r the ones doing the judging.
In a black and white world above post makes peerfect sense. Consensus is not always truth. This lady is acting per her Conscience.
The conduct of certain folks borders on despicable. In the name of religion. Don’t judge indeed is appropriate. So yes let us not.
ok… i am chick i do bad stuff… dont judge me …(ok fine)
ok …I am chick islam tell me to do this and that.. dont judge me(wrong, because you making thing up about some thing I know )
southie, read quran your self. There is usually an index at the back, pick a topic and read about it.
In a day or so you would too know she is delusional.
I didn’t want to go there Mr. Monk. Now that you bring it up, here is the bottom line.
If the consensus interpretation of a Holy Book is such that it allows discrimination against a human being, to me the choice is clear as crystal - choose the human being. Doesn’t matter if the Book in question is the Gita or the Bible.
In this thread , in the name of religion, vile language has been used vs the lady. To me , one more thing is clear as crystal. Those people can and should learn from this lady.
People first Mr. Monk.
PS. I have no doubt the Holy Book in question preaches tolerance. I lay the blame squarely on the practiotioners. Who refuse to use common sense. Unlike this lady.
There are people who will find reasons and excuses not to learn.
**People like that have fake and selective humanity, equality or freedom. **
Even Allah has said there are people who have their hearts sealed.
P.S. There are people who will support even a very obviously wrong person as long as that person has anything to say against Islam, distorts the very basic teachings of Islam. They will encourage that person just to satisfy their own skewed ideas about Islam.
I think Muslims like the lady blogger should be reminded ahadees like this:
“Among the things that people have found from the words of the previous prophets was: ‘If you feel no shame, then do as you wish.’”
[Al-Bukhari]
Haya’ (modesty) and Iman (faith) are two that go together.** If one is lifted, the other is also lifted.**”
[Recorded by al-Hakim]
There is nothing like Muslim queer. Exercise your freedom without referring to yourself Muslim and making large claims that you know this and that.
Why those who support minority rights and chant tolerance mantra, can’t take that majority also got some values and beliefs and their beliefs are not open to attacks in the name of freedom of expression and such volatile phrases like ‘judging is not good’. Why such people support likes of Rushdie then?
The lady at first instance didn’t quote a single reference from scriptures and then shamelessly claimed that she knew this and that. If she lost confidence in her father, she is not behaving to be taken as trustworthy.
Glad you said that, funny enough.. subject of quran is people..
For like 4 thousand years, in recorded religion, author has not changed his mind.
It emphasis on people first. some what like
“love your neighbour like your self”(second commandment)
If you sit out side and comment on any thing… fine!
but here she is making thing up about some thing we know… so I think you should really read the thing she is claiming she got this information from.
3 easy steps
go to liberary
borrow a copy.
use index…
I think the discussion here is for a person who claims to be Muslim, knows lot of Islam and then justify her acts according to Quran and Sunnah, which are clearly declared sin Quran and Sunnah. Its her insistence on sin that is being condemned by those who don’t claim that they are doodh main dullahe huwe, but they know that its a very remote interpretation of their religion by a lady, who failed to produce any reference from scrpture to back her pov.
Now where is minority rights and what non-Muslims think of a Hijabi Muslim lady come into this picture? The question is simple? "whether the lady is justified for her acts and supprting that acts with religious teachings?’ For first part of the question, ‘we can say that its between her and God’ , but can we say the same for second part?
This has been a learning experience. The above poster, along with many others, are folks I respect. They are good decent people. Who ate guided by Scripture.
I do see your arguments. They have lots of merits. Hope no line was crossed during this discussion from this side. If I did, my apologies.
Good luck to all. In your endeavor to be the best person you can be. Time to move forward.
