A PRESENT FOR YOU
A young man prepared to graduate. For months he admired a beautiful sports car in a showroom of a dealer, knowing his father could afford it, he told him such a car was all he wanted as a graduation present. While the day of the diploma distribution was nearing, the young man kept a close eye on his father, hoping to see any clues that his father had bought the car.
Finally, hte morning of the graduation, his father asked him to join him in his study room. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son and how much he loved him. He gave his son a beautifully wrapped present. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the package and found in it a beautiful, leather cover Quran.
Angrily he raised his voice to his father and said:“You have so much money and you buy me a Quran?!” and angrily he left home, leaving the book behind.
Many years passed and meanwhile the young man had developped himself as a succesful business man. He had a beautiful home and a great family. But suddenly realised his father must be very old by now and he should therefor possible visit him.
He hadn’t seen him since the day of his graduation. But before he could dothat, a telegram reached him announcing his fathers death and that he had left all his possesions to his son. He ahd to go immediately tohis father house to take care of affairs.
When he reached his father s house suddenly his heart was filled with grieve and sorrow.
He started to sort out his fathers important papers when his eye cought a still new looking Quran, which lay exactly as he has left it years ago. With tears in his eyes he opened the Quran and started to turn thepages.
While he read those words, a key fell from an enveloppe, stuck to the back of teh Quran. There was a lable on it with the name of the dealer, the dealer who sold the sports car he so much wanted at the time. On the lable was written the date of his graduation and the words…payed.
How many times do we miss God’s blessings because they aren’t wrapped the way we wanted them?
