“We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

A heart warming story. May Allah bless Turkey and our Turk brotherss with prosperity in this world and in the next

This reminds me of a story I read whereby in Aceh, when Turkey troops provided humanitarian relief, the Turkish flag became very popular in that province - both as a symbol of gratitude and also because the Turkish flag was very similar to the banned flag of the Acehnese seperatist movement.

Turkey’s earthquake aid efforts conquered the hearts of the Pakistani people, and to show their appreciation many residents are hanging Turkish flags from their temporary homes. “So far we have sent 35,000 Turkish flags, but it has not been enough,” Red Crescent President Tekin Kucukali said.

Following the earthquake that killed thousands of people in Pakistan on 8 October 2005, Turkey mobilized to help their brother country. Many donations were sent to the earthquake zone from both official aid institutions to non-governmental organizations.

The Red Crescent provided aid to nearly 100,000 people in different regions around the country, supplying around 100,000 tents and sending around 35,000 Turkish flags that were distributed as gifts.

The Red Crescent president said that they have since found themselves in an interesting situation, saying, “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

As a show of gratitude and of the ties of friendship between Turkey and Pakistan, earthquake survivors are proudly flying the Turkish flag from their tents and as a result demand has out weighed supply. Red Crescent officials in the earthquake zone say that about half the tents in these camps fly Turkish flags, and the demand for more flags continues.

The Red Crescent established tent cities servicing nearly 100,000 in various regions of Pakistan and has donated more than $62 million so far, in addition to the food, clothing, health and education aid sent to the earthquake struck regions. Three schools with 24 classrooms each will being classes soon.

At sahara hospital established in Muzaffarabad, more than 45,000 people have received medical treatment and nearly 20,000 people have been operated on. Seven doctors and 11 nurses currently work at the hospital that also contains a 10-bed emergency unit

Great to hear that :)

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

Are we (Pakistanis) going to show same "respect" to other parties who helped us going extra mile in helping us during that crisis? Like the western countries for example? Interested to know :)

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

Turkey was the first country to offer assistance to Pakistan even when Pak itself had not asked it from anyone.
I can tell by observation and by personal experience that Turkish people have real respect for Pakistan and Pakistanis.

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

I agree.

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

ditto

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

DIl dil pakistan, jaan jaan turkey

Turkey also provided spare parts for f-16 of pakistan airforce when USA embargoed our f-16s.If turkey and egypt did not give us those pare parts back then by now our f-16s would have been obsolete.

long live muslim brotherhood

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

Turkey is our brother.

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

I met a team of Turkish relief workers from the red crescent who had been working in the quake hit areas for few months, almost half the team members were women and all members wanted to stay on and help and said they were being forced to rotate. God bless them.

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

Turkey is our brother Yeah :) I've got some turkey friends :D andd I am going to TURKEYYYYY inchallah :D very nice place

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

I felt so happy reading this story. I wish we transcend beyond our racial/cultural biases and become true muslims looking after eachother in our daily life, let alone in times of trouble.

I thank Turkish government and people for goign an extra mile to come to our help and special thanks for the feeling of being belonged to a wider comity of nation i.e. Muslims.

My sincere appreciation to others as well who do not share our belief but infact came to the rescue of people stuck in the earthquake zone.

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

Before we cover ourselves red and green (Turkey and Pak flag colors), we must realize that Turkey and Pakistan were at the opposite end in the struggle for Afghan pipeline.

Turkey hated the idea of Turkman-Afghan-Pakistan line and they actively sabotaged the idea.

Sure Earthquake help was great. We should be thankful for it. But so were many non-Muslim helpers too. 70,000 deaths in Kashmir and the world response transcended religious boundaries for sure.

Waving "Muslim brotherhood hood-hood (wood pecker like sloganeering)" simply deprives all of us from the realization that non-Muslims also formed "brother-hood" with Pakistan in those dark hours after the earth quake.

p.s. just a little dose of reality from yours truly.

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

Thank you Turkey. :k:

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

I always liked and admired Turkish people but i have much more respect for them now :)

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

Turkey did a great job!. As someone said, it is a brother helping a brother.

But, wait! what about the help of other western countries. They helped even though their states are secular and most of the people Christian. This is a case of someone else helping someone.

Now I think the west has to be complimented more because they have overcome the religious barrier and helped (and no local is waving their flags).

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

Turks generaly love pakistan , the owe this to the great khlifat movement by Muslims of indo pak.

I met many turkish pilgams during hajj, all of them had so much respect and love for pakistan, i remember abudullah who after confirming that i am from pakistan said Dil Dil pakistan .

How can western and turks be the same.

i have seen western workers promoting christianity in these areas, thier intention (generaly) is not that good , indeed they helped us but mostly with wrong intentions

Re: “We are having difficulty in meeting Pakistan’s demands for Turkish flags.”

I don't think anyone is saying that westerners didn't help much or anything, it's just that some countries do it as a duty and others go extra mile and i think Turkey is one of those countries. We should definitely be thankful to all other countries like USA, UK, Italy etc because some of them have been there for months and months now and they are helping the locals wholeheartedly.
