When Im connected to the internet, after a few minutes or so, I get disconnected from my ISP automatically and my computer starts dialing to an unknown ISP cz I never set it up on my PC. It happens all by itself and since Im unable to see the connecting icon, I cant cancel it dialing. I found it happening just by chance cz I clicked something on the internet at the same moment when it disconnected me from my own ISP and started dialing itself. I was searching for my “connection” icon in the tool bar and found this mishap. Somehow I managed to locate its’ shortcut and checked it’s properties and it seems to be an international ISP which has intruded my PC. It makes my local ISP disconnect and connect my PC to the internet with itself. The icon which I have found is by the name of “NV”. This has been happening for past few days and I got rid of it by deleting it but it keeps coming back somehow.
Today it happened 4 times in one sitting and Im sure my telephone line is being charged for dialing that international number to get connected. I keep restarting my PC to disconnect myself from that ISP cz there is no other way to make that devil go away.
My local ISP customer helpdesk advised me to run ad aware which I have for 5 times since this evening but it keeps coming back and when I manually delete it, it does not go into the recyle bin so that I could throw it off completely. The recyle bin stays empty.
yeh … those auto-dialers will fire up your phone bills … make sure you have the latest AV and spyware updates installed on your system. A firewall is essential in your case … try kerio, its quite good :k:
TNWB, unhook the modem wire when ur not using it. Run Hijackthis and post the log here so we could diagnose the issue. Something is firing up at system start time that keeps running that dialer.
coOoLBreeze - i dont go to aisi waise sites naaa..... :D this is why i dont have an idea what this sh!t is. else i wouldnt be asking everyone to get an idea how this has happened.
