You know what I'm smelling in this thread? A desperate desire to look up some Muslim personality who is somehow internationally well-known, without any veneration to what ideals and principles the person stood for and how endured them. Is this some sort of collective inferiority complex?

hmmm...actually Islamabad, a very nice Muslim Malaysian lady i knew was telling me that he is not really that well liked in Malaysia..i guess the Muslim world used to like him b/c they thought he 'stood up' against America...but in actuality, things r a bit more complicated than that and the Malaysians dont hold him in such high regard...
NADZ hmm...the only good famous Muslim figure i can think of is Maulana Abdus Sattar Edhi to be honest..no one else comes to mind...what abt Yasser Arafat or hmm, the Kashmiri leader Mir Waiz Umar Farooq...? we have some great Muslims who've done great stuff but i guess none of them are famous..

we have had some great leaders in Muslim political history yaar...some brave ppl in our own subcontinent...Tipu Sultan...Shah Wali Ullah...Mohammad Bin Qasim...hmm..my history knowledge is zilch..but we have had some great leaders we can be proud of...
our new leaders are too interested in becoming slaves of America and have lost the concept of self sufficiency and honor it seems...
