Re: A must watch

DeTox your body, DeTox your home, and DeTox the Economy. Many of today’s consumer products – from children’s pajamas to lipstick – contain toxic chemical additives that simply aren’t necessary. Research online (for example, http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/) before you buy to be sure you’re not inadvertently introducing toxics into your home and body. Then tell your friends about toxics in consumer products. Together, ask the businesses why they’re using toxic chemicals without any warning labels. And ask your elected officials why they are permitting this practice. The European Union has adopted strong policies that require toxics to be removed from many products. So, while our electronic gadgets and cosmetics have toxics in them, people in Europe can buy the same things toxics-free. Let’s demand the same thing here. Getting the toxics out of production at the source is the best way to ensure they don’t get into any home and body.

Re: A must watch

actually not really true for electronics. The WEEE and RoHS directive of EU have had a great impact, China has their own policy in this area now.

from a numbers perspective when a supplier starts making components that are RoHS compliant, it is economically less viable for them to run separate batches ..one that meets RoHs and one that does not. The economies of scale are killed doing that.

There are some good policies in US including california’s prop 65, but more is definitely needed.

The issue is that EU is more proactive, if something is suspected of causing harm, they will stop it until its proven that its not, US on the other hand is completely opposite, thus our issues with lead, formaldehyde and asbestos…

but with teh global supply chan of electronics, we are inadvertantly benefitting from the proactive stance of the EU

Re: A must watch

Hate consumers please
companies sprout up to meet demands
demand better products, be a sensible consumer, do your bit in recycling
companies will have to adapt to meet consumer needs and demands
I kept telling desis buyign crap from dollar stores to stop it because that is like the worst quality stuff..and they did not believe me until the whole issue about lead in cables, and toys came to fore front..

everyone needs to do their bit.

Re: A must watch

these corporations are playing hovac everywhere.

Next time you drink Coca Cola, Be sure that you are drinking poor people’s blood

Re: A must watch

What do you have to say about unrecycleable computers every few years.. photoshop 4 and and now 5 and 6 8 CS1 CS2 .. everry year or so..you have to upgrade and let me tell you the change is so tiny that it is hardly needed... Is that not planned to make the consumer have to buy ...I used windows 98 until 2002 and was looked at funny.. it worked fine for me though.. had zero popups.. the the new windows came with a bug,, popups.. looked to me that it was deliberate.. so people will buy more software to solve the problem,,
Not to mention the non stop advertisement.. the iphone will make you a better person?
the statistics are there to show how much advertisement there is going on... and how much people are consuming now a days..compared to ever before//
This has least to do with the consumer.. it is all a huge plan.. this isnt even about desis.. this is about everyone.. and corporate hogs and FDA thats filling you with toxins day and night,,,

mac cosmetics aren't sold in the dollar store.. Mac donalds keep cutting away the amazon.. to raise their quarter pounders and faux bread.. its is the Average american that is the biggest victim, desis since they mostly eat their own cooked arent a victim as big of the snacks that are injected with stuff that makes you crave for more..

this is a serious problem for everyone,, and we all know it..

Re: A must watch

1)first of all go read about RoHD and WEEE legislations. not only do the limit the amounts of lead, cadmium, mercury, chromium (hex) and PBD-polybrominated diphenyls , PBDE - Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (which this expert refers to as BFRs) butthe list of controlled elements is increasing, prop65 in california is trying to do the same.

2) WEEE legislation makes companies responsible for recycling the materials. and fund recycling programs.

as far as changes in the computers, you have a choice not to upgrade, stay with what you have. an average home user does not really need to change their PC every year

dont fall for advertismenets, ads aree there because ppl react to them. dont buy into it, as they see consumer is the biggest decision maker.

yes we consume more than ever before but it si completely up to people to not buy washer and dryer or dishwasher or multiple TVs.

yet again, the final power rests with people. u dont have to go buy something just because itis advertised. do you go buy everything? I dont..

I did not say it was justa bout desis Ijust made a personal observation about the ppl who keep goign to the crappy dollar stores which are filled with things that are just horrible for you, many are counterfeit and dangerous. sop not only are they usually packed with lead but many items such as extension cords are not even safe because they dont meet safety requirements.

stop buying bmac cosmetics, stop eating at macdonalds.

I staywith my point, the change has to come from consumers, from people who buy goods and services. People should be willing to pay more for quality products.

also it is up to people to recycle, rather than throwing everything in garbage..
seriously how many peiople dispose their batteries properly?
how many people recycle what they can recycle?
how many people take their own bags to grocery store.

if you are going to hate corporations you have to hate consumers. they can not exist without each other..

its very easy to say oh corporations are bad, and move on. It takes more effort and is more impactful if every person starts making simple changes in their routines and purchasing behavior, and ask others to do the same.

Re: A must watch

yeah i agree the final power is in the hands of consumers and that is ....why i posted this video.. as a wakeup call

we need to realize and stop following the trends like some robots..

the video surely does that
