This happened in my very own town and it left me petrified for hours after reading the news.

The accused is said to have been treated for mental illness. As a kid, her house burned down to ground in front of her eyes. Her three months old sister getting burned in the house fire couldn’t escape her memory. She is grieving her children now who she stabbed over a 100 times!
Should she be eligible for the death penalty?

Just a few months back I saw a similar scenario
on tv. That woman had drowned her children in tha bath tub
if I remember correctly. And there were 4 of them. She was
also mentally ill.
I wonder how many other cases there are like that God forbid.

^ How would things be any different if the convict were a man? Mental illness knows no gender. The court adjourned the execution seeing the mother's condition and how she grieved over her children's death. She hadn't a single reason to kill her children, what led her to carry out such an act?

I have seem many cases where a guy has killed is baby and he was sent to prison for life or got death penalty. But every time a female murders her baby they always bring the issue of insanity. Back in 2000 a women in Houston drowned her 5 kids but she got away with life in prison. In this country there is always some sympathy with female murderers. Ultra left wings femiNazis also have to do a lot with that.

^ i think many people believe that a mom would have to be crazy to kill her own kids because they believe all women have a special bond with their kids.

She killed, she deserves the death penalty. period, no excuses, no stupid insanity pity plea. I am probably one of the few people in the world who have no pity on people who have children, then kill them, then claim mental illness. I could care less. If you were mature enough to spread your legs and get pregnant, then wake up and take care of your responsibility. Those children didn't ask to be born or force their way into the world, they were brought here in a direct action from the mother and the father.
She had two children that she raised for 9 years, what excuse does she have - postpartum? Give me a break. She KILLS two kids and now wants pity? Please......

I am not speaking about this case specifically. I am merely stating a fact. Just because one is mentally sane when he/she decides to bring a child in this world, doesn't guarantee that he/she will remain that way till one's death.
I am sure there are genuine cases for insanity among the many cases where guilty parents go for the insanity plea.

even that mother a couple of years in TX, she had a semi-genuine case of postpartum and a whole family watching while she fell apart and murdered the kids. You would think with a husband and support system in place someone would have cared and for every one real case there are many that are pure bullsiht.
Like that idiot who killed two kids for a man by driving them into a lake or this one with two kids she stabs to death.

Yep, there are real cases, and its better to admit to that fact rather than to generalize and place them all in the same category. Sorry if I am wrong, but that’s the impression I got from your initial posts.
