Actually...I believe exactly the opposite is true. If you love somebody only if they love you back, how can that be true love. Isn't true love supposed to be unconditional?
I know of several people who love someone that is either unaware or not in a position to declare their reciprocal feelings.
and they're ok with that?? that doesn't sound like a very happy position to be in...
as for unconditional love, i think realistically, it only exists between parent and child... husbands and wives always have their limits. its human nature i guess... you create/birth something, you don't care what it does, you love it forever. i've heard this from parents over and over and over- how the love you have for your kid/s is something that is so unique and so strong, it surpasses all other kinds of love.
oh and i think you have to have mutual respect and love for each other... you can't marry someone who loves you but whom you don't love, just like you can't be loving someone all the time and marry them if they don't care about you the same way. if you don't love them, why would you commit your life to them? and if they don't love you, then, again, why are you with them?
