Now whats gonna be interesting are the replies tht come forth in a day or two !!!
On a recent trip to India and Pakistan, I noted that Pakistani food cooked by Pakistani housewives was much tastier than the same food cooked by Indian housewives.
Take chicken curry, for example, which has the same name in both countries.
The Pakistani version was much nicer than the Indian curry.
I don’t know if the method of cooking was different, or if Pakistani housewives were better cooks than their Indian counterparts.
Then there is the vegetarian cooking in India, which I find lacking in variety.
I spent a few days with one of my vegetarian agents in Delhi and we ate dhal in the morning, dhal in the afternoon, dhal in the evening and dhal as an afternoon snack.
When I asked him for a different ingredient, he suggested black dhal, split dhal, dhal channa, white dhal and many colours of dhal.
Every dhal was cooked in fat called ghee. My agent, three of his brothers and their wives have had heart operations to open their blocked arteries due to overeating ghee.
I like south Indian food better than the North.....it has much more originality to it though I haven't gotten any chance to taste more dishes except vindaloo and few others.
I think Pakistani food is somewhere between south Indian and central Asian food...mainly because if the spices.

This is in reference to Mr Karim’s letter saying “Pakistani foods are better than Indian food” (GDN, July 9).This is true, not because I am a Pakistani but because of many reasons. The main one is Pakistani women spend more time at home than at work. It is the norm of society that fewer women go to work compared to their Indian counterparts. So they have more time to learn to cook dishes because many TV channels are educating people on traditional food, cooking methods, recipes and use of traditional ingredients.Another reason is Pakistani men enjoy delicious food such as mutton curry, chicken curry, biryani, paya, nihaari, butter chicken, kababs and so on…Abu Abdullah
I have always found Indian food so much tastier. Doesnt make sense comparing both the foods when much of pakistani food is simply inspired by the indian. Looks like the writer didnt have nice hosts thats it. :(
I generally found that men cook better than women, the writer might not have ate Indian Punjabi non veg food as all of it would have been jhatka:D, Vegetarian food in north has too much of variety beyond daal, how can one not take Rajma,Chhole etc? My all time favourite is Litti made by Biharis which used to be available outside DU:k:
I think it depends on the cook, some Pakistani cooks can be lazy - usually I prefer Pakistani over Indian any day (but I grew up with that so I'm biased) - Indian food that I have tried seems very creamy, I find there to be a different blend of masalay in their cooking.
i think an indian would disagree...its definitely "a matter of taste" pakistani cooking is better to a pakistani because pakistani cuisine is catered to pakistani "taste buds" so to speak.... n vice versa
in my limited experience, pakistani restaurants seem to have much tastier food than indian restaurants, where the flavors are usually all gora-saab-ed up.
