A m a z i n g Skydiving Experience

For those of you who wanted to know how it went..well here are some of the highlights. My friends and I met Mehnaz and her friend Ana at a Tim Hortons (coffee shop) near my place around eight in the morning. Even though I had not seen her before (wink wink) …for some reason I spotted her right away. We had a quick coffee and headed out on our way to Niagra Falls (Skydiving place).

It was a nice ride..the place was somewhere in the boonies..near lake Ontario with lush green farms all around. So we got there and we were handed this five page document to sign our lives away. I think I was the only one nervous at that point..I must say the disclaimers on the document were pretty scary as the skydiving company had saved their butt from every angle in case of our deaths or possible injury. I think none of us read it properly and just signed it off. I was hoping that I would see some glimpse of nervousness on Mehnaz’s face but nope, nada..she was cool & calm…and her friend seemed as if she had done it a million times before. On the other hand my friend is a cocky ba$tard and he was all ready to go.. so it was only me thinking..geez I’m sick of my crazy side..what am I doing here.

Now comes the exciting part…the girls got all dressed as they were the first ones to go up with ten other divers and experience the un-describable. They went up to 13K feet and voila! dived outta the plane..in the blue sky..in those breathtaking white clouds. Sitting at the door of the aircraft, all ready to jump and looking down is quite an experience. Lez make it an amazing experience.

So I was talking to ma friends on the ground while we were waiting for the girls to land.. I was like man! Now we can’t even back off..we have come too far and the girls are doing it so we gotta do it…Our egos didn’t allow us to back off…soon after we saw Mehnaz’s parachute and there she was in all her glory with a well built instructor on her back..landed safe and sound. We were all excited to get to know how it went… standing like paparazzies…waiting for her highness to tell us how it went but she was as calm as she was before the jump :-D…nah she gave us some good pointers which made our flight awesome…unbelievable ..remarkable!!!

It was a wonderful, incredible and an awesome experience…I’d do it again if I were a millionaire but I am glad I did it. Thanks to Ana & Mehnaz for making the plan and inviting guppies..Miss M is quite a cool girl and a wonderful person to hang out with. We got our videos made and pictures taken..I will post them in this thread maybe tomorrow.

Face your Fears People!

Boss, it was great meeting you and your buddies too.

I must say, you have to show everybody your video. It is the most FUNNIEST thing I have seen. Beforehand, he was a tad bit nervous … but in the video … oh my … it was just too funny seeing his expressions.

Ok, a few more details. The skydiving place was located close to St. Catherines in vineyard country. The drive along the way was truly beautiful. Lots of peach farms with nice/gigantic residential complexes. We took lots of side roads along the way and got to see some of Canada’s natural beauty.

Once we got to the location, Ana and I were shocked cause the skydiving place consisted of a small shack and a whole bunch of tiny caravans and tents. We started thinking, “oh my, is this place actually safe??”. Then I realised that Boss wasn’t even there so I called him to find out where he was. Typically, the boys got lost and refused to ask for directions. Men!

Eventually, they found their way there and we all signed in. As Boss said, we had to literally sign our lives away. They really covered every aspect to protect themselves … for example, one of the clauses was, “if you die, you cannot sue us”. :hehe: That sure made us feel better!

After signing our lives away, we had to watch a 20 minute instructional video and did about 5 minutes of mock practice. Then, Ana and I geared up and headed towards the plane. The boys were going to do their jump in the next round as our plane was full with Team Canada participants.

We went up into the sky … nervous … I jumped first and after watching the Team Canada people just jump out, I was petrified. Even though I was told not to look down, I did look down and ended up closing my eyes while I jumped out of the plane. I opened them about 10 seconds later and went into shock. All I managed to do was make a fist with both of my hands and give a thumbs up the entire freefall down. I was in shock but trying to look good for the camera at the same time.

My ears were popping … oh it was painful. I think it was cause I had a cold cause none of the others had their ears popping. Once the parachute opened, I relaxed a little. All I could say was, “are we still tightly secure??”

At that point, it became wonderful. We walked through clouds, breathed them in and floated in the air. I was literally on cloud 9 and managed to see Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and the mists from Niagara Falls.

We landed and my videographer was nowhere in sight. He and the others landed in a cow patch in somebody’s backyard.

Then Boss and his friend geared up. They were so nervous before but watching them go up there and come back … it was good they enjoyed it.

Boss’s landing was soooooooo funny. His instructor was literally HALF of his height. If any of you have seen boss, then you can imagine how it must have looked watching him land. We (the students) were to fold our knees up to our chest while the instructor runs and lands the parachute onto the ground. Boss lifted his legs as high as he could and still ended up sliding on his butt. :hehe:

Woo hoo! You did it. Good for you BoSS and Mehnaz. We will await the pics. Thank Allah you are all safe and sound. grin
