PTI has some pessimist supporters who fear that PTI might not be able to achieve a clean sweep in the upcoming elections. Even though I am not part of this pessimist club, but yet I will try to offer some optimism in their pessimism.

The Change that PTI is promising is here and that is very much evident across the country. If I supposedly agree with my pessimist brothers and sisters that PTI may not achieve a clean sweep and would only secure 30-40 percent of the seats in the assemblies, even then I can still see a Naya Pakistan. You know why?

Our leader Imran Khan has clearly stated on majority of the occasions that if PTI don’t get a clean sweep, we will sit in the opposition benches but not get into alliance with the status quo parties. Now remember opposition has a very important and critical role in the politics of a country unless you play the role of so called “friendly opposition” like PML-N. A strong and honest opposition is the biggest check on the ruling party and ensures that no such action is taken which is against the interests of the people. However, I am sad to say that in the past five years, the PML-N government has made us to forget the true role of opposition party in the parliamentarian system. PML-N was hand in glove with PPP and was fully involved in all the corruption and wrongdoings that were taking place in the last 5 years in Pakistan. They kept their eyes shut and even came out in the support of the PPP government when it was threatened by any patriotic Pakistani. The two parties leaders are commonly seen together and even have family ties across the country. The best example is my own constituency Lakki Marwat, where PML-N and PPP counterparts in upcoming elections are actually “Real brothers” and they have already done the seat adjustment. The result of such alliances is evident from the conditions of the district which is one of the least developed districts in the whole Pakistan. Now, expecting anything from these two status quo parties even if they are sitting in government or opposition is insane.

Therefore, even if PTI is sitting in the opposition, we should be assured that it will be the biggest democratic check on the sitting government. The mere presence of a charismatic leader like Imran khan in the National Assembly would be enough for any sitting government. The government would be forced to account for all their actions to the people of Pakistan and hence they will either have to mend their ways, which I highly doubt, or face a Tsunami opposition in the assembly followed by a Tsunami March on the Capital. Knowing all the corrupt parties very well, I am sure they can’t run the government even for 2 years and hence they would start indulging in their decades old habit of corruption, loot and plunder of whatever is remaining of this country and hence will invite the true wrath of the people and the only true option left for the people would be PTI. Those who wanted to give one last chance to PPP have witnessed the results of their actions and now if they want to try PML-N, they should be fully prepared for the consequences. By their corrupt actions, the sitting government would further alienate people from the status quo parties and the little air that is left in the balloon of these two parties will be taken out in the interim elections that would happen sooner than later.

However, as an optimistic PTI supporter, I am well aware of the fact that PTI will inshAllah clean sweep the status quo parties and even if we don’t achieve it on 11th May, 2013, my pessimistic brothers should still not lose the hope as we will witness a truly Naya Pakistan where there is a future only for PTI.

Sometimes being a pessimistic, you can still be an optimist. InshAllah a bright future is awaiting our country. The blood of our martyrs will never go in vain. Change is knocking right at our door step; all you have to do is to cast your vote for PTI.

Re: A Little Optimism for Phoenixdesi

A fair overall picture :k: But I do not see much to be pessimist. Since the camaign has started, IK has been able to generate great enthusiasm which bodes well for the PTI. Given the headwind of multiple aspects he is navigating through, I will give more credit to the youth of the country than IK himself for still sticking to the hope at the end of the tunnle. We simply don’t have any idea how much money has been spent against the PTI in different shapes. Yet the kaptaan is still standing there with full force.

IK is asked very frequently if he would be able to turn his fans into his voters? I think it is easier to go to cast a vote instead of participating in a rally. Thanks to the theatrics of Noon and PPP governments for five long years, I believe that the new voters will definitely make it to the polling booths this time around.

Re: A Little Optimism for Phoenixdesi

Chalo pehle jeet to jaye first hurdle is to win the elections by majority

Re: A Little Optimism for Phoenixdesi

In a recent interview, Imran was tight lipped about a certain strategy about that. Im not sure what it is, but it could be that if PTI forms a govt, then someone else might be put forward as PM, and come September, once Zardari is out, Imran would come in and take oath from the new president.

Re: A Little Optimism for Phoenixdesi

Lets c which side camel will sit.

Re: A Little Optimism for Phoenixdesi

PTI already has plans to tackle this. But I can only assume. Best case scenario; get a majority & interim prime minister will take oath. President to be impeached soon after and IK will come take oath from new president.

All very constitutional.

Re: A Little Optimism for Phoenixdesi

Impeachment is not really easy. PPP has substantial numbers in senate and would have substantial numbers in Sindh assembly at least. PTI has zero members in senate. There aren't many sound grounds for impeachment either.
