So I saw this ad on TV for a home pregnancy test thingie called First Response and the narrator of the ad goes ‘for when you are a little bit pregnant’…
Now my question to ladies is, is there something such as being a ‘little bit pregnant’?
Is there something like being mildly pregnant or moderately pregnant or so so pregnant?
My thoughts have always been that either you are pregnant or you are not…It’s like in a Hindi movie the father would go ‘Tu apni coke main paap ko paal rahi hai’? And the girl would reply, ‘nahin, bus thorhay say paair bhari ho gaye’…Doesn’t really make sense, does it…
That ad was trying to be cute in a way - its referring to how early the test can detect a pregnancy now. They made it more sensitive so that it detects a pregnancy earlier, therefore "less pregnant"...
It must be possible to be a little bit pregnant, because the term "heavily pregnant" exists in quite common usage as well, for describing a woman coming close to 9 months.

I think the context in which it is used would be a little off MS...See, if a father shouts to his daughter, "You are what!? You have blackened the family name forever! AAARRRGGGHH!" Then would it be OK for the girl to say , "No dad, I am not pregnant, I am just a little pregnant..." :D
