"Dil hai ki manta nahin"- always 714

I remember when i was kid, any musical orchestra comes to the town, people would ask, 'chand aahe bharega, phool dil tham lege'. i have never understood why this song was so popular in our town.

i used to mix with these orchestras and talk to people. Having lot of interest in music but no skill, i was basically used by them to move musical instruments to and from the stage.

One major complaint used to be that they dont get good duplicate of Kishore. They could get people who will duplicate Mukesh and Rafi. But somehow getting Kishore was tough, particularly in yoodling songs like 'zoomroo'

ZZ ma man,
Unlike you I've had no interaction with teh musical industry at all, but just as a music maniac ;) I tend to think the other way round.... I truely adore Rafi and think that no one could and no one can duplicate his voice. He used to match his voice according to whom he sang for... I can usually hear a song of his and tell which actor would it be on even though I wouldn't have seen the video.

Kishore on the other hand suited to a selected few like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh... and often I would mix up his voice for his son's... Amit Kumar???...

Ciao.

Ability to imitate has many factors.

For example, it is difficult to imitate Talat. The reason is that his voice shivers round the righht note. He can not stay at right note. The old time musicians like Anil Biswas tried to iron it and you do not see any 'kampan' in voice in 'ae dil mujhe aisi jagah le chal..' But SD Burman thought it is a feature and not bug and so in 'jaaye to jaaye kahan', 'jalte hain jiske liye' u see this kinda shivering. Most human beings have it only if they try to sing in early morning in winter.

In fact, it is very difficult to imitate some of Asha's songs, particularly cabarette numbers. You realize it when someone else tries to sing.

From Lata how about.....?

  1. Chori Chori koi ayay....
  2. Ajeeb daastaan hai yeh..kahan shuru kahan khatam
  3. Zindagi piyaar ka geet hai
  4. Sun sahiba sun

From Asha
1. Yeh larka haii Allah kaisa hai deewana
2. Chura liya hai tum nay jo dil ko
3. Sanam tairee qasam
4. O mairay soona ray soona ray soona

etc.. etc... :):)

Roaz roaz aankhoN taley

tell me u guyz have actually heard these two songs cuz if not... then!!!!!!

No one's heard these two songs... eshtrange heh...

NEWays, I guess we're pretty much done with the era upto the middle 80's or so...

Lets start on the Late 80's and early 90's now...
This meant some ppl like Mohammad Aziz and then Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan.

So lets hear it for Kumar Sanu first...
Here's my list:

Tuu Meri Zindagi Hai
Abb Terey Binn Jee Leyngey Hum
Sochenge Tumhey Pyaar KareyN ke Nahi

QSQT and 'jo Jita wohi Sikandar' ws a breeze of fresh air and so was 'rangeela'.
But in general, I have not followed music in last decade much.

I have heard "YEH VADA RAHA" it's cool ;) ;). It sounds very nice. Sung by Asha and Kishore.
