LAHORE: Afghanistan’s president is a former associate of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and he worked for it when the agency had its horns locked with the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, Qatar’s leading daily the Peninsula disclosed quoting a former ISI official.
“Mr Karzai had been with us during the entire Jihad. He was commissioned with me. Not only him – his brother, his father – all of them were working with us – I know the whole family,” revealed former ISI officer Col (Retd) Shuja Khanzada in an interview. “They (Karzais) used to call on me every week for instructions. Today, he is talking rubbish,” he added…
Yes I'm glad someone decided to write this. And good of this ex-ISI Col to speak up. Karzai is not just an ex-ISI helper he's also an ex-CIA helper automatically. He was sustained on Pakistani soil for over two decades and was considering himself as Pakistani as most refugee Afghans do. Come 9/11 and his fate changed rapidly and the old ISI-CIA services from the soviet war era which had secured him a safe and highly privileged life and refuge in Pakistan brought him more fortune and the powers took a fancy for him and placed him where he is blurting out dirt against Pakistan.
I hope he realizes that IF uncle Sam ever thinks of replacing him, he'd become food for the battling Afghans and scum for Pakistan.
Another astonishing views,
There was a war in Afghanistan, ISI and CIA wanted to help Afghan warriors against their enemy through military hardware, training, planning, etc. Now if they had any kind of contact with ISI, should we call it 'Afghan warriors were working for ISI' or opposite of it 'ISI was working for Afghan warriors'
As far HZ comments are concern, well I dont know how much Karzai is right in his assertions, but lets suppose if he is right in blaming ISI for supporting Taliban, dont you think that he is doing a good job for his country. There are many Pakistanis working in USA, so if tomorrow they talk in favour of Pakistan and against USA, what we are going to call them 'Namak Haram'?
And yes if he is wrong in his assertion then that is simply inexcusable. But I am sure none in this forum can say that with full conviction.
Karzai is now merely a Pashtun figurehead whose government is dominated by murdering Tajik and Uzbek warlords. When they toss him aside he will be seeking refuge in Pakistan again.
