A Heart Problem

I went to my gyne today for my fertility problem, he has told me he is going to try chlomid again. He checked my pelvis, blood pressure, etc and then checked my heart beat. So he tells me I have a heart murmur. I burst into tears. He said it is not really life threatening, but he is going to refer me to a cardiologist. I have had some chest pain before, but whenever I asked my family doctor, she said it was probably heart burn. Has anyone else gone through this?? I am like totally freaked out! The weird thing is that I just had a physical exam in may 2005 and everything was normal then! I am hesitant to do a search on the internet in case of wrong ideas popping in my head that I am going to die.

Re: A Heart Problem

Ruiner, heart murmurs are not that uncommon. don't worry about it. Do some research on the internet and go see the doctor. It is probably nothing.

Re: A Heart Problem

I agree with PD. It would most likely be nothing Insha Allah. Since you have been through physical exam in May, I am positive it is not that you have a heart problem. It would most likely be heart burn or like…Do not surf net for this reason to know as what it could be as it would put u under un-necessary pressure. Haan doctor ko zaroor dikhana.

Re: A Heart Problem

Ruiner, i dont know much heart murmurs but i belive they are fairly common. If you feel looking it up online will stres you out, dont do it. Go see a doc ASAP and i am sure you will be just fine InshaAllah :hugs:

Re: A Heart Problem

My 4 yr old neice has that and her Ped said nothing to worry about. It will go away with time and it will not affect her.

Re: A Heart Problem

its nothing dear don't worry about it inshallah e'thing will be ok , heart murmer is actually when ur heart valve has a smaller-than-normal opening and can't open completely. A valve may also be unable to close completely.Treatment of murmers depends upon its cause,Normal heart murmers don't need any treatments.
But ruiner u should go to ur cardiologist 1st inshallah i know u too don't need any treatment it will better by it self.

Re: A Heart Problem

when i read ur thread i 1st call my hubby in hospital and discuss with him about this.

Re: A Heart Problem

Don't search anything on internet, sometimes internet info misguide u, just make ur appointment with ur cardiologist 1st

Re: A Heart Problem

agree with the group - I have heard that heart murmurs are not something to worry about - Good Luck inshallah you'll be fine :)

Re: A Heart Problem

It depends. most systolic murmurs are benign. specially mitral valve prolapse is very common, specially in women. i suspect that is what u have. But not all murmurs are benign. its better to get cardiology workup done, cause they can do ultrasound of the heart(2-D echo) and see how each valves are doing, how much is the ejection fractioin of ur heart, if there is any leaking valve and all that information. U dont want to get all that info when its too late..

Re: A Heart Problem

Oh thanks everyone, I am feeling better by the afternoon, but this morning I was really worried.

I really hope it is nothing, my family physician will be referring me to a cardiologist.

It is really a strange end to a week. Again, thanks everyone for your prayers.

Re: A Heart Problem

I was 16 when a cardiologist told me that I have a minor heart problem. I used medicine for almost six months. After a few years another cardiologist diagnosed some problem. Since that day, I don't let the docs even take my blood-pressure. :D There were so many. I had to fight them all. Can't spend my life taking medicines for my heart. Who cares? :D Heart murmur, ususally, is nothing to worry about. Follow your doc's advice anyway.

Re: A Heart Problem

How did it go? And what did the cardiologist say?

Re: A Heart Problem

good luck.
