I met my university senior friend after a long time. During discussion he himself started talking on a subject and told me about how he learned from a religious scholar that there are like many (I think he told me the figure of 100) types of shahaadat (martyrdom) and one of them is that if a man wants to marry a girl but somehow is married to another girl, but he is still not able to remove the likeness of previous girl from his heart. If only for the sake of his wife and Allah (swt) he tries to remove that other girl’s thoughts from his mind, doesn’t talk to anyone about her and to his level best avoids interaction with her even after he gets a chance and is tempted to talk to her, and dies while keeping this likeness only in his heart (to himself) and never violate his wife’s rights and remain loyal to his wife, he would be counted as a shaheed which is counted in one of those categories…
p.s. I am not sure if I should be happy or sad as I won’t be able to get this shahadah due to the fact that Alhamdulillah my wife was the first and the last person I ever loved, which started after our arranged marriage. But I do hope inshaAllah, by the grace and mercy of Allah (swt), I would get one out of the remaining 99 forms of shahadah…
May Allah (swt) bless us all with the strength and wisdom to be able to achieve the glorious milestone of shahadah in our life.
