Re: A full-strength Pakistan squad named for another 'Tamasha' match in Saudi Arabia

Yes also heard on GEO then less then 1000 spectators were present in the stadium. It sums everything up........

Re: A full-strength Pakistan squad named for another 'Tamasha' match in Saudi Arabia

Arey Mian, look on the bright side. Everyone who was not present in the stadium must be busy playing cricket in their gallis and mohallas *(with those Sheikhs fielding at short mid-wicket region), so effectively, the purpose of this *Tamasha match was fulfilled.

Thanks to Pakistan's #1 finger-spinner artist Arshad Khan who has just hit his prime, they now have a finger spinner of their own who can spin the ball 90 degrees in scorching heat on a dreary and horizontal wicket after that person closely monitored for several years how does, Arshad Khan of our own, gets the ball to magically spin from his fingers ala Warne-like. Look out for 'Sheikh Chillee' vs. 'Taaya Arshad' *khullam-khulla jung *in the near future (Guaranteeing Arshad Khan to be a part of the team until the end of this century).

Hafeez reported for misconduct

KARACHI: Test discard Mohammad Hafeez is in danger of losing his place in the Pakistan A squad for this summer’s tour of Australia after being reported for misconduct by his region’s coach.

‘The News’ learnt here on Thursday that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disciplinary committee has received a complaint from Faisalabad region’s coach Waseem Haider which says that the talented all-rounder has shown poor conduct in recent months.

The initial hearing on the complaint was recently held and the PCB is now awaiting a report on the incident from its inquiry committee.

“I am expecting a report on it tomorrow,” said PCB’s Director of Cricket Operations Saleem Altaf who confirmed that a complaint has been filed against Hafeez.

The Sargodha-born Hafeez recently played for Pakistan A in the EurAsia Cup in Abu Dhabi where Pakistan won the title. He is included in a 29-member Pakistan A preliminary squad for the tour of Australia this summer.

But any action recommended against Hafeez by the inquiry committee might pose some hurdles on his way to making the final squad.

Hafeez is no stranger to controversies as he was suspended for a match last year after refusing to wear the sponsors’ logo in a domestic competition.

The 25-year-old made his Test debut for Pakistan against Bangladesh in the summer of 2003. However, he has been unable to play any Test after featuring in that series. He has played 30 One-day Internationals (ODIs) and made his last ODI appearance in Visakhapatnam during Pakistan’s tour of India last year.

According to the sources, Hafeez was one of the Pakistan A team players who complained to the PCB that the team officials took more than their due share from the EurAsia Cup prize money earlier this month.

Pakistan make winning cricket debut in Saudi Arabia

*KARACHI: A star-studded Pakistan XI would return home today (Sunday) after winning both its exhibition matches against an Asian XI in Jeddah earlier this week.

Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq led the side that included a number of top national cricketers to victory in the two matches that were played at the Al-Ahli Stadium in Saudi Arabia.

In the first match, Pakistan XI defeated their rivals by 10 runs while in the other game played on Friday evening they prevailed by four wickets.

Younis Khan and Abdul Razzaq set the Al-Ahli Stadium on fire with scintillating sixes and fantastic fours in the second match.

Set a modest target of 197 runs, Pakistan won the 35-over match comfortably in the 31st over for the loss of six wickets.

According to Saudi newspaper ‘Arab News’, Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi flags of all shapes and all sizes fluttered in the warm evening breeze that heralded the onset of international cricket in Jeddah.

The electrifying display by the famous Pakistani batsmen sent the sizable mass of cricket aficionados from the subcontinent into rapture. The cries of “Jeetega bhai jeetega, Pakistan jeetega” vibrated through the air as Younis and Razzaq sent the ball over the boundary and into the crowd on numerous occasions. It was nothing short of the sweetness of victory for the mostly sub-continental spectators for whom cricket is second only to religion.

Missing in action, however, were the Saudis. Save for the men in uniform, there was not a Saudi soul in sight watching the game of passion in action. Those who promoted it here in the Kingdom were also conspicuous by their absence. But then the spectators had fun “because we watched our heroes in action in Saudi Arabia”.

The formidable Inzamam was the cynosure of all eyes. Cool as a cucumber, he played his part in seeing his team put up a fantastic performance. At the fall of every wicket of the rival team, the Pakistani team would huddle together and thank God — a strong symbol of togetherness and team spirit.

If Inzamam played a sterling role as a captain for his team, it was Ajay Jadeja who led the Asian XI with aplomb. He lost the toss and the match but won the accolades of the crowd. He himself batted in style and experts said had Jadeja stayed a little longer in the middle he would have changed the result of yesterday’s match.

For the Asian XI it was Sri Lankan Kumara Dharmasena who top scored with 61 runs in their total of 196 runs. The Asian team was bundled out in the 31st over. Pakistan reached the target by losing six wickets. Inzamam fittingly scored the winning runs.*
