Also, could you post reference to Khadija marrying the Prophet because her cousin told her to? I don't see that as being true.** The cousin you speak of met the Prophet after he recieved his first revelation, and that's when the cousin knew that this was the Prophet that he had been expecting.**

Hmm so you know very little about him. He was very old when Sayyedah Khadija married Sayyedna Mohammad and as I already said he could not live long to see what happened to prophet. May be he was alive when he announced to be a Prophet. But he was very old at that time.
Here is more detail about the story................
When he sent proposal to Sayyedna Abdullah, but he was late and Sayyedna Abdullah married Sayyedah Aminah. So Sayyedna Abdullah offered him to marry his sister too. But Sayyedna Warqa denied, why? Here is the answer.............
He saw that the apportunity was transfered to Sayyedah Aminah, to give birth the Prophet. Thats why he denied the offer. He was a Sufi of that time and also a great scholar.
Do you know that Madina was made for the wait of coming Prophet. They waited for about 500 years. They had signs about him. So as you read history, you know when Prophet migrated to Madina they welcomed him. Girls sang songs. Men offered him to live in their houses. Not like Mushrikenn-e-Makkah who tortured him and his companions.
Re: A friend asked this question about the Prophet...
I thought it was because the Prophet had made one earlier trip to Medina at least, especially with his business duties, and people in Medina already knew him and were expecting him.
Can anyone else aside from OMG clear this up? I have a feeling to not trust OMG's sources, because he's out of whack. Anyone?
Re: A friend asked this question about the Prophet...
pcg,
I dont recall the tradition narrated by omg, but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist. My memory is of a Syrian Christian monk, Biharia (sp?) who predicted Mohammad was the great prophet prophesised in the bibl, after examining him. It was something about Biharia seeing a cloud providing Mohammad, as a child, cover where ever he went. He warned not let Mohammad p go to Syria. I also recall Warqa bin Naufil, a cousin of Khadija who told Mohammad he had been visisted by Gabriel. My recollection is that Khadija sent a relative to the prophet to ask him to marry her. I dont recall anyone telling Khadijah to marry Mohammad p because he would become a great prophet.
Re: A friend asked this question about the Prophet...
Medinians didn't welcome the Prophet (saw) because they were expecting him for 500 years. By the time the Prophet (saw) migrated to Medina, most of them were already Muslims thanks mostly to Sayyidna Mus'ab bin 'Umair (ra) and other companions (ra).
Re: A friend asked this question about the Prophet...
You should advise your friend not to question the prophet. Our master and their actions are far far far above our puny human scrutiny and are between the the glorious messenger of Allah and Allah himself.
To ask questions is wrong. We hear, we obey. Thats how it works between our Master the prophet of Allah and us, their willing slaves.
Re: A friend asked this question about the Prophet...
Doesnt Koran say you should question? And if you want someone to believe in Islam, you cant simply tell them to do as your told and expect them to fall in line now can you?
